Clarke in to bat. I'm backing him to do well . Not sure what his average is at the SCG, but can remember him doing well here a few times in the past.

Little bit of SCG, Clarke history..

3-7 January 2009 NSW batsman Michael Clarke scored his maiden SCG Test century hitting 138 as Australia defeated South Africa by 103 runs in the third Test. Australia finally claimed a dramatic victory with only 10 balls remaining after South African captain Graeme Smith returned to the wicket after earlier breaking the little finger in his left hand. Despite batting for 29 minutes and defying 17 balls from the Australian attack, left arm paceman Mitchell Johnson finally bowled the gallant Smith to end the game
MJ broke Smith's finger in this match - and the finger on his other hand in the next

3-6 January 2012 In the 100th Test played at the SCG, Australian captain Michael Clarke registered the highest ever Test score at the SCG when scoring an masterly 329 not out as Australia defeated India by an innings and 68 runs. After Australia dismissed India for 191, Australia appeared in trouble at 3-37, before Clarke and Ricky Ponting took control with a 288-run fourth wicket partnership. Ponting completed his sixth SCG Test century with an innings of 134. The run feast continued when Clark was joined by Mike Hussey with the pair registering an unbeaten 334-run fifth wicket partnership. India batted defiantly in its second innings with Sachin Tendukar scoring 80 before Australian paceman Ben Hilfenhaus wrapped up the match taking 5-106.

Captain Cook showing no confidence in his new spin bowler. After the way The Lyon has roared you would have thought they would use a spinner. England is paying dearly for Monty's off field public urination...

FUK. Clarke gone from a nothing shot..

England need to win this to stay above Australia in the rankings. A draw or a loss and Australia move to 3rd, England 4th

Test cricket will never die. Highest 2nd innings chase at SCG is 288. We are batting at 5 an over with 302 in the lead. Wickets are not our concern now- especially with my hero Haddin yet to play. Rogers is playing excellently ..

Where have all the poms gone on this thread??

You guys really are the ultimate fair weather supporters.

I met a guy at the bkk airport a few days ago who strangely knew the batting average of cook and other stats, though claimed to have no interest in cricket

^ I think it's pretty good that the SCG has publicly stated they are against drop in pitches. Any pitch that produces a result is good in my books - unlike the roads in the sub-cont for instance.

    What's your point?

    It's the best format.

Yes, T20 is a bigger money spinner, but holds nothing compared to the emotions experienced in test cricket. The ICC is sadly too money orientated to give test cricket the attention it deserves, but the players and die hards will always make sure it remains the ultimate form of the game IMHO.

Just got up, sorry for the late arrival, think I'll go back to bed now.

Shameful in every facet... The bloody Convicts are confident and bowling well, but the weak psychological state of our batsman is just shameful. The new guy, kiwi allrounder, has again shown that it's not impossible to get runs, but these senior players need to sort them fukin selves out. Losing is one thing, but to put up no fight... I'm going for a long manly cry.

&, as an aside, your beer is shite, your women are fat, your politicians are stupid and ugly, and your pies are tasteless...

Yes, pink stumps are a disgrace - gay, gay, gay, gay, gay convicts, ruining test cricket with their tacky gaynesss...
