How early Wally?
For you, Willy, I'd pay it, and record it for a TD viewing... The Aussies taking a much deserved arse-raping; I may ask the katoey to wear a Stuard Broad mask and smile at the camera while he's pounding you...Originally Posted by kingwilly

We haven't lost a series in SA for a long time . Admittedly, there has been one of those pointless 2 test 'series' held..

This Bruce is mildly amused at all this fuss for team number four beating team number three, and the fans for team number four automatically assuming that the new team number three will thrash team number one away.Originally Posted by Bobcock

Fate of feuding Kevin Pietersen and Andy Flower rests on Paul Downton

Paul Downton, the new managing director of England cricket, will decide the futures of Andy Flower and Kevin Pietersen, whose relationship has broken down to the extent they may not both be able to carry on as part of the England Test set-up.
Downton, appointed on Jan 1, will conduct the England and Wales Cricket Board's internal review of the Ashes whitewash. He will speak to each player and member of the backroom staff in compiling his report and will take his time before making decisions on the fate of leading figures in the management and team.
Flower has told the ECB that he wants to rebuild the England team. The board has so far backed him publicly but ultimately the decision to keep him or not will rest with Downton. Pietersen said hat he wants to help England regain the Ashes in 2015 but privately fears that he will be made a scapegoat for the 5-0 series defeat. Should Downton conclude that Flower should stay, it may spell the end of Pietersen's Test career. Despite being England's most talented batsman, he has little -support within the ECB hierarchy and his relationship with Flower broke down completely last year and has not been repaired since. There have been suggestions that Flower might consider resigning should Pietersen remain part of the England squad.
England will also watch with interest what attitude Pietersen takes to this year's Indian Premier League. Pietersen's deal with the Delhi Daredevils expired last year and IPL -franchises will soon announce their retained list of players who have agreed new three-year deals. The rest will enter the auction. If Pietersen signs a new deal with Delhi, England will view it as a sign of where his -priorities lie and could hasten his exit from international cricket, especially as two other leading England players, Stuart Broad and Ben Stokes, are expected to turn down IPL offers in order to prepare for Test duties next summer.

One potential option for England is to settle Pietersen's central contract and try to persuade him to retire without causing a stir. But Pietersen has rarely backed down in his dealings with the ECB. There is no doubt that he fears he will be a casualty as England assess the wreckage of this Ashes tour. He retweeted Michael Vaughan's Daily Telegraph column to his 1.5 million followers in which the former England captain pleaded with Cook and Flower to stick with Pietersen, suggesting he should be appointed vice-captain.
Pietersen returned to the side after the text scandal of 2012 only at the insistence of Cook, who recognised in his early days of captaincy that he needed his best player at his side if he was to establish a winning culture.
In India last year Pietersen repaid Cook with one of his greatest innings in the win in Mumbai, which turned the Test series in England's favour.
Pietersen batted selflessly in the Melbourne Test when Cook needed a performance from his most experienced batsman but cut a distant figure on the outfield, rarely involved in tactical discussions with other senior players and the captain.
Smoothing over the relationship between Flower and Pietersen could be high on Downton's list of -priorities as England can ill-afford to lose another senior player following the retirement of Graeme Swann and the uncertainty over Jonathan Trott's long-term future.
Downton will at least be buoyed that Broad and Stokes, England's two leading players from the Ashes, are poised to deliver a boost by turning down the chance to play in the IPL. It is understood that Broad and Stokes will not be entering the IPL auction in February despite interest from franchises.
Stokes is believed to have been approached by one franchise to play in the IPL in April and May but has decided to concentrate on building his England career after emerging from the Ashes series as the most promising player for the future. As an all-rounder with star potential, Stokes could have commanded a large fee in the IPL auction on Feb 12 while Broad has boosted his own status with two good Ashes series with the ball. Broad, England's Twenty20 captain, signed a deal with Kings XI Punjab in 2011 and 2012 but did not play a game owing to injury.
The new central contracts allow England players a window to play in the IPL only until May 13 this year, which disappointed officials in India who had thought they would be -available for longer. England want the players home before the one-day series against Sri Lanka that starts on May 22, and Flower is keen to see his batsmen in particular play in the County Championship.

Such a good feeling knowing we not only won the ashes, it was a white wash , litterally dismantled their team, and what is left of it are mentally scarred . On top of that, the dressing room is about as happy as we were with Arthur in the house .
England should be scrambling to make sure KP is in the team , but by all reports he is a very difficult fellow to keep happy. With a multi-million dollar 3 year IPL contract around the corner, I wouldn't be surprised if Kev fucks with them to the point where they have no other choice than sacking him, so he can play his beloved IPL , BigBash in oz and make big $$$$ at the end of his career. As I've said before , once a ring in, always a ring in. Vaughan has suggested he be made vice captain , which would help keep his inflated ego intact, but it is no secret that he has many critics in the ECB and I'm pretty sure a few of them don't want to see him have any kind of authority.
And what about Anderson ?? The aledged leader of the English attack. I predicted he would be cannon fodder in oz without grassy English pitches doctored for him and that is exactly what he proved to be. He bragged pre series how he 'can't help sledging the Aussies ' but he not only got hit around the park, he lost the sledging matches too and looked like a sheepish little boy each time he came out to bat who just couldn't wait to get back in the dressing rooms away from those big bad Aussies. It all started with the 'get ready for the broken fucken arm' jibe - which brought out his true colors - a big sook who goes running to mummy when things don't go his way.
I'm betting he will be the next to go. If form allows him, he may continue until the 2015 ashes at home, but I can't see that happening. He's been on the decline for a while now. He definitely won't tour Australia again. If he did, pretty sure he'd be the next one to hand in a sick note and go home.
Man makes $100,000 catch at New Zealand V West Indies 5th ODI, Hamilton 2014
The man made the catch, a one-handed beauty, early in the West Indies' innings with Powell and Johnson Charles slogging away at the crease in the 5th ODI against New Zealand in Hamilton.
The 'Catch a Million' promotion run by beer brand Tui has offered to give $100,000 to anyone who catches a shot during the game while wearing a branded t-shirt.
The competition has been running throughout the Black Caps ODI series against the West Indies but sloppy fielding in Queenstown, Auckland and Nelson has meant Tui have yet to pay a cent.

Fans push boundaries in bid to take $100k catch
Friday Jan 3, 2014
The promoters of a competition in which spectators can win $100,000 by catching a six are encouraging punters to take a safety-first approach.
Tui Breweries spokesman Simon Smith wanted a safety-first approach after recent games saw some spectators go to ridiculous lengths to snare the catch and the cash prize, crashing over advertising hoardings and falling down grass banks - one man left his infant child briefly to try and catch the ball.
Given there were 22 sixes in the New Zealand innings - 14 from Corey Anderson alone - people weren't short of chances in Queenstown on Wednesday.
Mr Smith said only one person could take home the $100,000 prize on offer at each of the Black Caps' 12 one-day games at home this year.

Git!
It was saffa to win 5-0
and Wally i reckon you owe me 5 points for giving that game away!
Hats off to Australia for an amazing team performance and a deserved whitewash - but England raised the white flag at Melbourne and Sydney. If I’d been captain, I’d have given them a spray.
I never minded being beaten by the better side, but if I ever felt my players weren’t giving 100 per cent, they got the full force of my opinions. The way England batted on that last day at the SCG was as if they had given up. It was like watching a Test team dismantle a club side.
They’d been knocked from pillar to post and it looked as if they’d had enough. But if you go down, you go down fighting — not in 31 overs. Michael Carberry looked like he wanted to knuckle down and Ben Stokes showed the fight he’s been showing ever since his debut at Adelaide.
He tried to turn the tide and really impressed me. But the rest - with the exception of Stuart Broad — were nowhere. Their performance would have angered me if I’d been in charge.
English cricket has some very difficult questions to ask itself over the next few weeks, from the senior players to the coaching staff. I’ve said before that it’s very hard to maintain a level of performance over a long period and the likes of Alastair Cook and Kevin Pietersen have played more than 100 Tests now.
In 10 Ashes Tests, Pietersen has only really had one great knock - the hundred in Manchester. The rest of the time he’s been indifferent.
I saw him around the Surrey dressing room last year and he looked to be in a good frame of mind. He fought hard at the MCG, but he’s been out of sorts for much of the time. England have to decide whether he’s going to be in their rebuilding plans.
The same goes for Jimmy Anderson and Matt Prior. Just how much more can they get out of them? The coach, Andy Flower, has been around for a while and, when it comes to the captaincy, I don’t see many other leaders. Everyone has to be very honest and there could be difficult times ahead.
The way they played Mitchell Johnson throughout the series was revealing. Of course, I’m not inside their heads, but it looked like they batted scared.
When you’re up against top quality bowling, you’ve got to be aggressive otherwise the run-rate goes nowhere and you can lose three or four quick wickets. But England became more defensive. I can’t believe how timid they were in the last two Tests.
That said, it was an all-time great performance from Johnson. To maintain that level of pace and hostility over five games was amazing - I’ve not even seen that from Dale Steyn. He was in control of his action.
He’s always been a wicket-taker, even when he hasn’t been on top of his game, but this time he had Ryan Harris, Peter Siddle, Nathan Lyon and even Shane Watson keeping it tight at the other end. It meant he could let rip.
It was a great Australian team performance. All the bowlers averaged under 30 and five of the batsmen over 40. Chris Rogers and David Warner gave them a platform, Michael Clarke made centuries in both the first two Tests and Brad Haddin put in one of the great performances by a keeper-batsman.
Even the one guy who maybe didn’t shine, George Bailey, scored important runs at Adelaide and quick runs when they were needed at Perth.
I see Glenn McGrath said that this attack was better than the one he played in, but I wouldn’t go there just yet. Glenn played alongside Jason Gillespie, Brett Lee and Shane Warne - and some batsmen felt Jason was an even more talented bowler than Glenn. They still have the edge for me.
Comparing this whitewash with 2006-07, I guess I was lucky enough to captain a group of experienced players stung by the Ashes loss in 2005. This team are just getting going.
But there was one big similarity. We felt we had broken England during the second Test at Adelaide, where they collapsed on the last day. I think this team broke England in Adelaide and, like 2006-07, didn’t allow them a way back.
It’s been an awesome performance from start to finish.
