You haven't tried piston head then Nige, it's foul, flat and at 4.6 % wouldn't pull the skin off that yellow stuff you deprived Jan's apple pie of

You buy drinking water In the UK Nige? Really? I remember beer being cheaper.

I can understand buying water abroad, but I always drank tap water back home.

I have a guy here who comes around every couple of weeks with drinking water, Don't know if his maths are wrong or mine. But one of us is to blame for the drought and lack of rice here this year.

How long has she been in the UK even longer than my misses (2008) I believe??? When we arrived and I took a much needed drink out of the tap I remember my misses being shocked but upon being told she is no longer in a third world country and water is a basic human right and the 'stuff' that comes out the tap is fit for human consumption in this so called developed nation never an issue with drinking it, in fact if I remember she quite liked it. Although in your defence I remember as a 15 year old moving down from Co.Durham (in 1988) where the tap water was lovely to Essex where when I first pulled myself a glass of the local produce I nearly threw up.

Well like you, I drink it out the tap no probs ,, BUT no amount of convincing will get her to drink it .
In the scheme of things it aint a big deal really , the bit that annoys me most is she won't stand on the bloody plastic bottles to crush em before she fills the rubbish bin up with em .

Over the years we have bought various water filters , but as soon as she sees those little things floating about under a microscope its back to the bottled stuff
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

I sure hope you recycle those rather than just throw them in the trash. We separate all trash even here in the LOS.

Should be, but alas in most countries it is not. It is a product to be sold, and if you can not afford to buy it from the private companies, you can not have it.

In Scotland, here are your choices of companies to purchase water from if you can afford it.

    Business Stream
    Anglian Water Business
    Aimera
    Water 2 Business
    Severn Trent Services
    Thames Water Commercial Services
    Veolia Water Projects
    United Utilities Scotland
    Clear Business Water
    Kelda Water Services
    Cobalt Water
    Real Water
    Commercial Water Solutions
    Source for Business
    Castle Water
    Blue Business Water Limited
    NWG Business
    Ondeo
    Everflow

1000 baht a month you will be paying for that, and for that you have a product that actually fails the set levels they promise. Also, their contracts usually now include a section saying they can charge you for rain water you collect in a butt, or pond... because it is THEIR water and they have the right to charge you for anything.

Here's a tip though - if you want water in your house, for free, then here is what you do. Write to your water supplier and ask for their information on the actual content guidelines they set for the water you pay for. Then, once they have sent this pie int he sky stuff, take a sample in a sterile bottle to a local university and get it tested for what is really in there. Then sent a copy of those results to the water company and say you will not pay them until they supply water within their safety limits as specified by them. It is simple tort law - they make a contract with you to supply water of a certain quality level, and they always fail it... without you knowing. They know this, and when you do this process, you keep the water on, and never receive a bill ever again.

Now, some might get the shits up about this, but please remember that water is actually a basic human right that was privatised to the highest bidder, and mostly now owned by large foreign industries. Secondly, watch out for the SNP who are thinking about floridation of water, and understand that it was used in concentration camps by the nazis to pacify and dumb down the inmates.

So enjoy your basic human right. Thailand is better - water is cheap and plentiful, and you can drink it from the tap, but running it through a filter first is advisable.

We pay £54 every month to United Utilities for our water and buy bottled water to drink because the tap water tastes like shit and we only drink it if desperate.
There are some chemicals that carn't be filtered out of the supply so it's safer to go with the mineral stuff.

We actually travel once every 6 weeks to the Buxton mineral water spring to have a load up of the good stuff 40 x 5 litre bottles.

Nonsense. Corporation pop is just as good as almost anything out of a bottle and even Coca Cola knows that:

    Indeed - well reasoned, Sid.

A side note: remembering that the essence for life [water] is looming to be the cause for worldwide civil conflict/wars, as governments and corporations attempt to control most palatable water resources, availability, and related technology -

There were a number of revealing and startling books and studies unveiled a decade ago regarding the coming "resource wars".....most of which are centered towards water.

    Beware.
Our future [to be expected] might be devastating.

NOPE ,, I don't recycle ANYTHING here it all goes in rubbish bags , if the company who has the contract to clear the rubbish wants to recycle it then they can employ someone to do it .

I pay £133 a month here for sweet FA ,, oh sorry correction 2 bags of rubbish a week removed . BTW we even have to buy our own rubbish bags now .

Other than that my council tax does not pay for

    Volunteer fire brigade

    " plastic policemen

    no street lights

library which is now open 3.5 days a week which is threatened with closure

there are no NHS dentists here you can get into

collapsed doctors surgery which is now staffed by temporys working for the NHS

paths that we cannot walk on because the hedges are so overgrown

Nope for my £133 a month they can sort it , infact if they paid me £33 an hour I would do it for them .

On the plus side of course there is £24k per year set aside for each our Syrian friends who have contributed sweet FA

All that recycling is false economy.

Most of it should all go in land fill instead of transporting it all over the world impacting more on the environment with the carbon footprint.
