Quite hard to find these days round here, Tesco and Morrison's seems to have stopped selling them for whatever reason, only Asda still do my Worcester sauce flavour and I took the last two 6 packs yesterday.

Anyway - what's with the glitter plates? Do you live in a strip club?

I had a lovely dinner last night.

My missus squashed the roast tatties with a masher pre-roasting and they came out really crispy:

Then I baked some cauliflower and broccoli cheese in the oven:

Before the star of the show, in the form of a massive steak cooked with butter and thyme, took centre stage:

    It was mint.

Cheese and onion pie, chips and curry from the Chinese chippy is the food of the Gods when you want no nonsense comfort food. Two slices of buttered Warbies on the side for a butty or two and yer laughin'.

Who the fuck eats those pickled eggs at the side of the bar in the pub? Is it you?

It's like the one sock mystery. Where do they all go?

    Ha! Green owed.

In north Manchester the older lady who sold the fish stuff was the old dear of one of the most notorious families in the area, so everyone grew up on crabsticks, cockles and whelks with their pint! And Peperami sticks! Remember them?

Thats what was eluding me- crabsticks.

Can you still get Caffreys and Carling Premier where you had to wait for them to settle like a Guinness?

Do you remember snugs? Am i showing my age now?

Fucking 'ell, Caffreys. That was a decent drink, but I've just Googled it and the % has now been reduced from almost 5 to 3.8!

Back home in the summer for a couple of weeks, so my goal (apart from loads of pork pies) is original Caffreys, Peperami and crabsticks with vinegar in the snug at my old local.

    Fuck Carling though.

Going back 20 years ago, there was a bit of the jack the lad who used to come into our local. He'd do anything for a bet, so we bet that he could not finished the jar of pickled eggs (9 in total) and drink half a pint of the vinegar. Prize was we would buy the eggs, and give him a tenner if he did it. Took him an hour to do the eggs, but only got halfway through the vinegar before starting to puke. Unimpressed landlord handed him his bill along with a mop for the floor. Whole place stank of vinegar for a couple of days as well.

I'm not normally a fan of pickled eggs but someone who obviously doesn't like me gave me a bottle of Bells for Xmas, was going to donate it to some charity raffle but the misses decided to pickle some eggs with it, were actually quite nice.

A year or so ago there were a local equivalent of pepperami available here. I remember Witherspoons used to sell them. The place has gone to the dogsnow but maybe someone else sells them?

In fairness to M&S you do seem to get a better quality of food when it comes to the processed/ ready meal stuff, you just pay a healthy premium for it. They do a lovely hog roast for 2 which is well worth a try, only about 30 mins to cook/ heat up.
