^Fuckin hell, do you ever eat anything that needs a knife on the side of the plate and doesn't look like leftovers?. Not having a go at your Missus's cooking but do you ever eat things like steak/lamb/roast chicken/lasagna etc?. I just find it impossible to believe you're comfortable dishing out pearls of culinary wisdom to everyone elses dinners while you're saying grace over that .

    Chicoree (Endive) Bake

Chicoree, sliced ham, Gouda cheese, eggs

Boil the chicoree for a few minutes, than wrap with ham

Mix the eggs, grated cheese, salt, spoonful of mayo and a bit of milk

Place in a dish with more grated cheese on top, ready to go in the oven

A meal in itself, but mashed potatoes go well with it

Went down quickly, had a second one, mum ate one and one is for the next lunch

Same same - having decent Thai cooks in the household. Many do, though...

At what point on this parade of pikey caravan food will an all out red jihad be called on Nigel?

(Anything in a white sauce from a can Nigel mate.....never good unless being used as fake puke).

Anyway, as I am joining the missus for the vegetarian festival (she is a full time vege), tonight supper is melanzane parmigiana made by yours truly, with a potato salad and fresh water cress.

Total cost - who knows. Wine in the tomato sauce was 900 baht. The banana is for the dog...

The wife does go to the butcher's and get some nice pork bones for a chops/ribs type experience from time to time. She also does a lovely chicken and chips when I ask for it, but generally she cooks Thai food.

Her food is excellent; she is well known by folks who have eaten her food as at least on a par with the better Thai restaurants.

Personally, as you know, I do a special line in pasta, English breakfasts and the world famous Bettyboo sausage and egg sandwich (with correctly cooked eggs).

    Good job.

You should do up a recipe thread sometime.

Just a bit of roast chicken and veg. What exactly the veg's are on the left side I don't know, Bok Choi and baby broccoli and something else maybe. Mrs Worx is also on this veggie diet and had a steamer full of this sort of thing on the go.

Nothing wrong with Thai food obviously, but cooking it at home isn't going to happen in Chez Worx because (A) the Missus is a shit cook and (B) why bother when there's countless places to buy the same dish for peanuts cooked by people who's very existence depends on them being very good at cooking that one dish.

Jambon aux Endives. You can also do that with fat leeks.

Nigel, i know we are trying to show these people how to eat well on a budget. But i have to draw a line at buying chicken in a sauce in a tin. Sorry. Looked like cat puke to me, without the rodent heads in it. Or feathers. In fact, i don't think the poor chook in that tin ever had feathers.

My dinner cost about 8 quid last night. Could have fed a hungry lorry driver for a week at that price!
