Nobody to cook for me at the moment so I thought I'd have a bash at that Panang curry.

So I went down to the Thai Supermarket at Golden Mile to pick up ingredients. Well actually all I needed was the curry paste as I had pretty much everything else.

Anyway it turned out pretty well in my opinion.

    Same thing, Nigel.

I think "red" curry is just what it's called in the west. Thais call it "penang" curry.

Let's help you a bit more:

    I asked for:

    Fresh?
    Not fresh, but prepared packaged.

Obviously, you and others can't recognize the difference of what natural, fresh, or real foods might constitute - one and the same, I'm sure.
Looks good Betty ! Your taste ain't as bad after all. Maybe I have to post some of my smoked lachs. Just a pain in the ass uploading.

    Ditto.

Gang phet gai nuang per chance?

Cooked the entire Christmas dinner - starter and desert included - singlehandedly this year (this mrs selfishly went down with a cold, a proper British twat of cold). It turned out to be a surprisingly good feed. Thread en route...

Well done Somtum mate ,, I can join you on the same podium did the whole job sigle handed .

I think next year it might be time for a 3 month sabbatical in our Issan home if I aint retired to Espagna by them
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

I try to sympathise but find it hard, educate your misses as in book your holidays early. Come April the 5 or 6 or when ever the new tax year starts book the xmas week off, they won't let her have it then just do a sicky when the time arises if having time at xmas together is important to you. Going back to your previous comments on another thread where you said you only got 20 days holiday and I told you illegal as 5.6 weeks is the law, I've just signed a contract and was only 20 days holiday so naturally queried it and how it works out is you get the 20 days (4 weeks, mon-fri) and we have 8 bank holidays a year in the UK which equates to 1.6 weeks so you get your 5.6 weeks, should you be required to work on any of the 8 bank holidays during the year then they owe you a days paid holiday otherwise breaking the law.

Anyway back on topic I've just had a large donner meat and chips with chilli sauce, garlic mayo and salad, sadly all eaten and no photos.

We had our pudding a few hours after the main complete with flaming brandy and whipped cream, alas i forgot the silver coin...but nobody noticed.

My missus spent her first few months in the UK with her arse stuck to the radiator in bed because of the cold.

Tell her it's quite warm for this time off the year if you want to cheer her up
If that doesn't work there's always Sang Som hot toddy's.

er well thanks for the sympathy ,, however a few salient points

    1. My wifes holiday year begins in Oct

    2. Mine begins 1st Jan the following year

    3. I only get 20 days annual leave 4 of which have to be taken at Xmas

Bank holidays and public holidays are included in the calculation as they DO NOT have to be paid on top of the annual entitlement . If you check the gov website on holiday entitlement you will find this so I am afraid .

I also have to accrue any holiday so if I have any time off its removing days off the annual allowance .

She is a carer and will not go sick as she actually cares for the old gals in there and worries no one will clean + feed em .

I am allowed extra time with no pay so 3 months over winter is no problem , but she will have to resign her job for that time ,, however I know they will take her back on the day we come back to the UK .

Just eaten half a can of microwaved ravioli , bit sad new years eve on me Jack

5.6 weeks is the law , it's a black and white issue no grey areas. For those on 4 weeks they have to give you the 8 bank holidays which equates to 1.6 weeks thus making it up to 5.6 weeks or alternative days otherwise they are breaking the law.

    The missus.

She must have used 1kg of fresh chicken breast for the Madras.

The pilau rice was Basmatti rice mixed with Cumin and Tumeric, still got some left for later.

The pic has come out quite well for a change, uploaded to the TD gallery and urled in.

A Much clearer pic than the FB urls of past and won't vanish after a few months.

During the new year cleanout, I found an out of date foodcan:

Think I'll keep it as a peace offering for Nige's visit.

And me, I'm fresh out at the mo. A superb looking spread.

Is the mrs doing anything with her Thai tucker over here, CCC? I'm thinking something catering orientated myself at the mo.

We did start up a business catering to the well heeled in their homes for a while.

£25 per head Thai banquet prepared and cooked in the clients home minimum 10 persons. Did quite well for a while till family commitments put the venture on the back burner.

We have a Thai restaurant in our village that has had rave reviews and charges a small fortune, alas it does not compare to the wife's cooking.
