Hello pal I very much like your paintings keep posting them.
very nice pictures mate have you still time to paint
Nigel and Jan Lets see some of thee building work
It's in the building thread you numpty.
Titled " Off we go, our little building in deep Issan " or similar.
More pics will be up this weekend ok.
Hope you and Caz ok
Sorry if these don't look too good I am in an internet café where all the software has en cracked and all I can see is warnings.
Anyway I thought I would have a go at EG,s challenge since I have a bit of time on my hands , I have done this in acrylics , I tried but failed miserably to achieve the lovely fast loose style EG manages to get down ,, instead I have faffed around and lost the spontinaiety of it all ,, the water is some of the worst I have ever managed to produce , I have a lot to learn with these paints for sure.
I am very sorry I have just seen that blue rinsed blurred mess Charlie, , it's not a wonderfully rendition of EG, s pic but he deserves better than that.
It was that shit outfit I was posting from, , will re, post tomorrow, cheers Charlie you were right mate.

I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()
Is it me or is it blurred?
Nice painting, Nige.
Right hopefully this looks a touch better, sorry about yesterday

I'll pass it over the wall when EG next pops head head above the parapet.
Ok enjoying me free time now, loving the fact I don't have to cram a painting into a half a day on Sunday. Thought I'd have a go at another sunset as I got some rather good praise from Somtum for the last one, in fact he will soon be able to nail it on the side of his barn (edit) baan

Well I have to say it was an absolute pleasure to meet EG and his lovely wife today, ,, all though the poor chap has a rather rude neighbour who made unsavory remarks about my FIL, S pickup parked outside his house!
He has very kindly lent me one of his watercolour instruction books plus a dvd, , so I now have to step up to the plate and deliver after studying tonight.
Happy painting, , great to see you all today.
Been doin a lot of these in the past months. This one didn't get a lot of attention with DLing numbers. The boyz like White girls.

It was our pleasure to meet you folks. More than welcome anytime your in the area. It was nice to talk art in real life lol, hope you enjoy the book and DVD.
Don't let the mozzies get the best of ya...

Yup I guessed that mate I told Jan you would be heading for silly mid off.
I was up late EG reading that lovely book, gonna pinch the SIL, s lappy today and watch that dvd, , then what I am gonna have a go at is doing a painting from only those paints you kindly gave me, , see if I can come up with something different.
Parallax. She has a mighty pair of hands on her ...
Sorry mate Somtums got his name on that one.
The book I have been kindly lent Blue is creating luminous water colour landscapes.
BTW, , I was up earlier on digging out the base for concreting my water tank and pump, in the cool.
Well folks it's been awhile. Life often intrudes on our pastimes. Have really put an effort into studying this medium, lots and lots of hours. Actually found a terrific site/teacher that seems to hit all the right notes in my brain... lol...
This is the result of several hours of monitor time try to sort it all out. Its copy of one of his demo paintings.
Autumn:
I think I've stumbled on a major factor with acrylics, other than the reversal of painting darks last as in watercolor. Layering many many layers is the key...for instance the background of this one was 5 layers of mottled color. Didn't take long, about an hour, but the results lay the foundation for the rest of the painting.
Then you block in all the specific areas and it looks like crap, but eventually a picture begins to form.
This is on a small canvas board 9x9 in. approx. Small format that makes it look too busy.... couldn't get rid of the glare, sorry and the camera can't separate the multitude of yellows and oranges well... but you get the idea.
BTW Nigel, glad your enjoying the Sterling Edwards stuff. He has more video for free on Jerry's Artarama site... look for the learning/education tab and scroll down for his name.
