Bit more detailed work today , plus some glazing ,, the old opposites on the colour wheel are beginning to show nicely now ,, lots more to do yet
Just to see if anyone is paying attention looking at this ^ can anyone spot what is missing from the last picture ?
lettering on that sign,?
are you going to sign your name there
Well spotted Blue
and no ,, your name is going up there for being observant
No , I wasn't happy with the quality of my writing , shall be doing it better , this is one advantage of acrylics over some other mediums , seem to have limitless chances here .
There are no people in the original , so there will be none in this painting
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
BTW thanks to all those showing appreciation , its nice to know people are here viewing

Just back from a month in the states.... Did get to see a great Turner exhibit at the Peabody Essex Museum.... 100+ of his water colors with a few oils mixed in. AWESOME... His large oil of the Battle at Trafalgar is one impressive work... wow...
Lots of his contemporaries and students were also on display...
Exhibit runs though Labor Day if anyone in the Boston area is interested.

Ok calling this one finished now
Natalie if you see it on here and you would like it PM me Som,s address in London and I will post it off to him for you ok
Great painting, Nige.
Question. When you painted 'Novotel' on the canvas, did you turn the painting 90 degrees?
Thankyou Charlie for the compliment , yes I am quite pleased with it to I think I have managed to capture that shaft of light coming through the middle ok. What is more pleasing to me is the fact its in acrylics which is still so alien to me as i fumble my way around with them .
Yes you are correct about turning it 90 deg I paint indoors in the conservatory and have an old table set up with a piece of wood nailed across the front of it to support a large board which sits at about 30 deg supported by a couple of lugs on the wall , this is great for painting anything on .
BTW on a different note , there is a guy who sells and makes frames from a home workshop very close to me , I have never bothered going to see him because I know it will be mega expensive , anyway he put some of his old frames out for a bit of a clear out just for a charity donation on Saturday I bought some and we got chatting , he asked to see some of my work .
Anyway the upshot is he was so impressed with ( some ) of them he is apparently going to organise through his contacts a limited edition print run of some of the local scenes for me as he says he knows exactly what will sell around here , and is confident I will make some money from them
We will see time alone will tell .
As I said before were off to Italy next week , watercolour and pastel gear is already in my case so I hope to come back with some great pics , can't wait to sit down in front of that lovely mountain landscape
Thankyou Nat , glad you like it
Brilliant stuff! Thanks for putting the pic up Nat, it's good to see the painting with the photo together.
A very nice pic Nige, interesting to see you turning your eye to something different for a change (not that there's anything wrong with your usual landscapes of course).
PS: I was also wondering if you turned the canvas 90º to paint the Novotel sign, thanks for getting the important stuff sorted out Charley!

If you hear the thunder be happy - the lightening missed.
This time.
Really striking work there mate.
Fantastic work Nigel.
Really love your style.
Poured with rain all day here today , so why not , a very quick wet painting
feel a bit sad looking at that, then see the green.
Why are there no green flowers ?
Good mate , art is an emotion stirrerOriginally Posted by Dillinger

I liked it better before you added the tree obscuring the umbrella. It was a stronger visual image. No need to reproduce what you see exactly. Edit.
Yes I know , it was a shall I , shan't I moment , however as the original had been asked to be put on here alongside it ,,,,,,,,,,,,, if I didn't I knew exactly what the first 6 questions were going to be .
Anyway I guess some will prefer either way , and tbh as it is has got very positive replies from my FB page , always good to hear people,s opinions either way
Either way Nige, you are really improving. Your use of light and shade is really outstanding in this one.
A much better thread now than it was twenty minutes ago.
Thankyou mods.
