Thanks for your kind offer of a little pot full ,, but you have given me an idea , I'm gonna buy some here and put some in one of those smallish secure plastic clipped lidded boxes , will do nicely for my glazing .

You really have brightened up this thread with your insight into your painting room pics ,, thanks for that , its great to see how and where people create theyre work.

Mabe I'll stick a bit of my jumble room up this weekend , unfortunately I have to work tomorrow + do some housework when I get home , so I'm gonna get stuck in as the wifes working a long day Sunday and I hope to relax with my paints
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

I shall with any luck be arriving on the 25th of this month .

Gonna try and get hold of some new subject matter for us all to have a go at this weekend , I have an idea about one of those ( easy type ) landscapes that I like to do

Will be back later with the results

Sorry EG in the event it was nothing like that ,, shortly after my last post this morn just before I set off , my neighbour had some problems so I was otherwise engaged for quite a spell of time so I never made it to Stoke .

Nevermind not to be outdone I went to nearby Great Holland and sat outside to do my first plein air acrylic ,, now I did the same as last week hacked a piece of linen to fit this photo frame , then glued it to the backboard and painted on that.

I can categorically state this is the LAST time I paint on this with acrylics ,, its bloody nie on impossible , and TBH I really dont know what I,m really doing yet , also I have no glazing gel but have some on order

Anyway I give you my first outdoor effort BTW yes the water was that blue near to me and also it was 18.5 degrees it was heaven , so peaceful .

Cheers Chas ,, I must admit that is high praise for me

No ,,,, joking aside , I noticed this afterwards , I didnt try to make it that way , but its given me an insight into how the great JC used his colours .

If I had been going for a real Constable look I should have dabbed a blob of Cadmium Red somehwere on it like he used to .

Nevermind its all a learning curve , this wasnt easy , infact because of the go over again nature of acrylics ,, thats exactly what I did with the trees, first go I had beautiful trees , then like a fiddling twat I am I overdone it ,, lost the look ,, took a step back and undercoated them all again and started over .

Pretty obvious innit that your choice of medium really makes no difference....talent wins over medium every time..

    Great job

Thankyou all kindly for the above comments ,, all I can say is things can only get better as I learn and get a better understanding of this medium .

One thing I have learnt so far is these buggers dry a whole lot darker than when you apply them ,,, opposite to watercolours as we know .

I still have to really get to grips with the speed of drying , and once again EG , I can only wonder at the mo how difficult it must be in your climate ,, still I'll get to have a go soon , really looking forward to mabe sitting on the banks of the Mekong for hours painting away , trying to replicate some scenes and put on here that some of you will hopefully recognise

OK enough of the "easy" stuff as MTD likes to say.. This is a photo posted on the Wet Canvas web site (hundreds and hundreds of photos posted by member that are FREE to use), posted by one of the moderators - Yorky

    Kellewell village in Yorkshire.

I've kinda been looking for a street/town scene that as all the elements, Sky, landscape, buildings and water. Probably won't tackle the lady unless walking the other way lolol.

Simplify, change lighting, crop, not sure how I'll tackle it.

Probably in acrylics but never know... might go at it in watercolor... undecided in all aspects other than it rings a bell so gotta go at it.

Sorry , apologies EG , I'm gonna have to step back from this one of yours for the time being , unbelievable I have been asked to paint 2 pictures for 2 seperate people now just before I am about to come over .

They are paying some nice money to , so it will come in handy , but its gonna keep me busy for the next 2 weeks .

I will catch up later when I get over ok , some more good news , whilst I am over some guy is gonna email me over a specific pic from Canada , again he is gonna pay me to paint for him , so it will be nice to be earning a little from what is nothing more than a hobby I love spending my time on
