You lot will be surprised ,, I'm turning over a new leaf on my Thai stay , I'm gonna be diving into the hedges with the locals

I dont eat pies anyway ( well I'm gonna make an exception tonight ) as I have found one in the bottom of the freezer to get rid of before I soon turn it off .
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Willy, well done. You've captured the water perfectly for the seas around SEA.

Nicely done and the island is great also...

Thanks, I was medium happy with it until I saw Nigel's. No offence intended but he's miles ahead of us. (and when I say us I'm not saying I'm as good as you either just that Nigel's light years ahead. (but that shouldn't stop any of us)

And that's why I said please don't take offence, because it's not a competition and I love seeing your interpretations and positive feedback.

I belong to and spend a fair amount of time on a couple of web sites. There are a mix of bad, amateur, good, great and professional artists that populate them. Some inane questions etc. Some cartoonish some extremely polished, in both water color and acrylics.

I participate occasionally in the bad/amateur range... tis what it is LOL

The key is seeing others works and saying to one's self "How did they do THAT???. That can lead to a couple of idea threads. Research on the specific subject to learn about it and challenging one to try it. Often times I get ideas or snippets from others' posts or learn from differing composition styles. It all adds up to learning the subject.

Honest crits and opinions are valuable tools to all of us.

Besides I'm not in it to sell anything, its a pleasurable hobby and that is enough for me as long as I get a little better in each painting.

Thats the key element there mate , we all see things differently , sometimes it amazes me when I look at the way others interpret the same scene .

I met a guy painting when I was out one day and allthough the painting had a strange look to it , he was obviously far more talented than I would ever be , got chatting to him and he was colour blind !

What he was doing was merely painting by tones , obviously he would read blue on a tube for sky colour etc , but it looked an absolutely stunning effect he had painted.

The main thing was he loved doing his hobby and the results were giving others pleasure .

    Right you orrible lot .

See if you can help me and inspire me please .

This is the wonderfull task I have been set , to paint within a week for someone ,, its a present for his Mum's birthday ,, if ever I saw something so uninspirational to paint !

It looks like a bloody jungle with Mum's house hiding behind it , now obviously he wants a pic of Mum's house she is gonna recognise.

This is all I have to work with , this is what he wants me to do it from ,, so cmon can some of you rustle up a quick rendition and post it on here to give me some ideas ?

Use all your artistic licence to try and make this kinda semi interesting if you can

not much to do with just this ref., maybe change the season, get rid of the pole and an interesting sky. Obviously get rid of the jungle and the road across the image.

Sorry can't see much else to do.

I have only done 1 house portrait so I'm not a lot of help.

    Jaysus, not very inspiring.

    EG is right.

Paint a house, then add some foliage.

    Hope it looks similar.

Paint a UFO hovering above it, and the son getting anally probed in front of the garage.

I reckon his Mom would like that, with a bunch of flowers

BTW , EG , I already asked him about the road and he wants it included , so I'm just gonna have to kinda try and make it interesting .

I guess at 70 her eyes might be a tad more forgiving

I guess it's more about the mammaries than the aesthetics.

Do you have it in electronic format or just that print out?

If you have it in an email then maybe it could be tidied up in photoshop to give you something better to work with.

Ask the guy to send you the original image in the highest resolution he can and post it here. Then when you get off the phone with the Samaritans email splitlid.

Right here we go ,, now I have to state because of the piss poor subject matter I am totally uninspired about this one ,, my heart is elsewhere which isnt good , but I said I would help out and do it for him . I will try my best .

Here I have mapped out the basic items that I can see , I am doing this in acrylics because of the short time span I have i.e.. a few days

    [/IMG]

Now please dont take this as the way to paint with acrylics as I really dont have a clue about this medium I am on a steep learning curve here .

I have started to block in some colour just to start to get something down .

I am using acrylic paper here , its 1000% better than that cak I used last time ! still can't get my head around this bloody drying time , got to get me finger out !

The only thing I can think of is to thin a lot of this bloody jungle out and send a shaft of light through the middle of the painting to light up her cottage,, which after all is what the ol gal will ( hopefully ) recognise .

    [/IMG]

A way to go yet ,,,,,,,,,,,,, keep the faith

This is the first time I`ve managed to view this thread properly. Fantastic work by all. Seeing as I dont have an artistic bone in my body, I`ll just continue to be a voyeur. Keep up the good work folks.
