I really hope you're joking Nigel. I'm sure there would be quite a few people who would like to buy your works, especially the paintings of specific locations which might have significance to them.
For example, I have very fond memories of my times with family in Northumberland and really enjoyed seeing the paintings from your trip there. I would like to own one or two.
And, a general comment on your work - I think your water and skies are terrific.
Well thanks all above ,, glad your enjoying the thread as I am sharing it with you .
Todays little excersise is trying to capture the swell ,, chaos and range of colours within the sea
Oil on another piece of primed canvas cloth again , beginning to like this surface , gonna bring about 20 sheets with me when we come over for a month in November
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()
Well glad to report after a very long barren spell I’m pleased to report the last two paintings have sold to different people also one of them has pre ordered 4 seasonal commissions for next year .
Then something a bit odd happened some one else bought this little one below which is only about 8 by 6 inches then at the same time ordered two more much larger ones with slightly different configurations of the birds ,, oh well that will keep me busy when we come over Sunday for a month out in the issan sticks
I can see w why they bought it. It’s absolutely superb!
Thanks Wills ,, sorry not much in the way of new artwork for a little while ,, been so much else going on with a possible relocation for us .
Anyway we’re outta Heathrow tommorow night heading east so in between replacing windows and God knows what else on the in-laws houses I shall be painting as much as I can , they will all be oils on oil paper of scenes out and about in the Issan region .
Stay tuned and I will try and get something up as soon as I can
Been rather busy since arriving with 3 years of catch up maintenance etc , lots more to do ,, anyway we had a couple of days in a beautiful balcony suite on the Chao Prya before going ooop north .
First painting from one of the piers on the Chao Prya
oil on oil paper as all will be on this holiday , was a rather overcast day
Very nice, Nigel.
Out of interest, what size is the paper?
Thanks ,, er hold on a mo it’s not very large ,, it’s that cheap canvas paper from The Works , but tbh I love it , gives the luxury of cotton grain in the paper ,,, just measured it 11” across by 10” deep
Thanks for sharing and please don’t stop.
Was out early in one of the local villages Ban Soem trying to capture the heat and hub bub of people going to work , failed miserably mixing my paint I ended up with mud , never be worried about failures , just go back learn and take another look
I will wait till this is dry then rework it more to my liking , will re post the re worked image
Some quality work you do there Nigel. It surprised me that you do not make more of an effort to monetise your skills. This would surely make more sense that binning your some of your hard work.
I appreciate that EBay etc could be a waste of time, but have you considered speaking to some local cafes, solicitor’s (reception areas) GP practices etc offering to display your work with prices, giving 25% to business owner and 25% to charity.
The business would have the advantage of free artwork displayed and be seen to be supporting a local artist.
It would be good to see your talent get the recognition it deserves.
Thanks kindly Iceman for suggestions and taking the time to reply .
unfortunately been there done it many t shirts etc
uk galleries are flooded with worthless digital crap as I’ve explained before but people will buy that for say £50 which has maybe taken an hour to produce as opposed to £70;for a piece I have worked 2 days on , then hand made a frame another half day etc ,, no mate thanks it’s just not worth the embarrassment of asking people for money ,, I only paint for the pleasure of it , plus I do give to local elderly people for their memories which the do appreciate
£70 sounds cheap as chips mate. I reckon you should double or triple your prices for a start and open your own gallery/cafe.
Thanks for the encouraging words Wills ,, there is potentially a big change regarding relocation when we get home and hopefully once we are settled I have plans to go down another route via You Tube with a new channel of me in Northumberland , giving some nice little snippets of film , shots and info of many of the local areas of interest , but conveniently each one incorporating me doing a time lapse painting which of course will have some little tags in the description box enabling anyone to purchase them .
I better mention dear old Marmite gave me a few pointers on Saturday when we had the pleasure of visiting him again
