    Good man.

    Good luck.

To be young and free and still have the energy to do such things. Lucky fooker.

10 seconds later I bet that egg yolk was perfectly soaking into everything underneath. One of the foods Thailand got just right.

I think you could drink a half bottle of whiskey and a liter of ya dong and still be less of a dribbling mess than a sober Jamie Oliver.

Nice Spread there Dirk, I would definitely be enjoying a late night snack of that pork in a bun with some gravy and a beer. Vodka looks interesting but unfortunately Im banned from the stuff as it brings out the Begbie in me

Mendy, you touched all bases with that plate, exactly what I would have had and the desert didn't look half bad either. I had Christmas Pud soaked with brandy with brandy custard and a mince pie.

I have passed on all tips of hat to Ma, I am enjoying it while it lasts, she keeps claiming it will be the last year...I did help in tasting everything to make sure it was ready for everyone.

I have never gotten round to accepting any sort of fish during the festive period.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to one and all.

The Christmas meal took several hours of preparation, on me tod until around midday when the rest of the family finally deigned to get out of bed and join me, and it was pretty damn good.

(Sometimes that "Quote selected text" button just refuses to work for me. Other times it is fine. I am beginning to think the problem is in my laptop rather than in TD.)

Very pleased to see that it all worked out and there was a Christmas dinner in the Mendip household. No such luck here. I discovered late in proceedings that all the planning and preparation for her colleagues' work party here had not included anything for me. So it was a raid on the freezer and some beef stew for one. I wasn't best pleased. The second bottle of wine seemed like a good idea at the time. Boxing Day gave it a different perspective.
So I went out and bought one of Makro's finest frozen chooks and I have a plan for tonight's dinner. A chook of modest size that should fit in her old airfryer. We shall see.

While we're on the subject of tomato soup...

Before Christmas I treated myself to a tin of Heinz Tomato Soup as I thought it would make a nice treat instead of the Batchelor's Condensed soup that I usually have.

I had half of the tin with a cheese sandwich a few days ago and had been saving the other other half... until the wife brought it up to me today. Sadly she didn't realise that Heinz soup isn't condensed and she'd diluted it with the same amount of water.

This spoilt it slightly and I may now have to get myself another tin for a New Year's treat.

I've never heard of batchelors soup but you can't go wrong with either Heinz or Campbell's condensed. Some decent bread.Butter it. With butter. Not fooking margarine. Just butter/ salted.bld tip #654

    Spaghetti bolognese.

You don't see them very often.

Now I see it end-on it looks more like linguine. Whatever, there is a reason why we seldom see a pasta sandwich. Possibly several reasons.

Meanwhile, my dinner has started well. Used the carrot peeler to slice the end of my thumbnail. This has meant delegating certain tasks. Every cloud has a silver lining.

I beg to differ. Are those peas and carrots? That's no bolognese, that is an abomination.

    Traditional Bolognese has carrots.

You probably refer to pasta as 'noodles'.

Admittedly the peas were my own, personal slant.

But regardless, it's not a sandwich that dunks well.

So it is no longer a Bolognese.

Carrots are part of the mirepoix, which is the basic start of a bolognaise sauce.

Nothing wrong with adding peas to the sauce at the end, it's still a bolognaise sauce.
