Beef bacon though, innit?
Having been brought up the good stuff, I can't even bring myself to touch that rubbish.
I had a Muslim friend of a friend who tried proper bacon when she was in Europe. Suffice to say, she has never looked back since.
Some things just can't be replicated and pork bacon is one of them.
It's demoralising at times when you're in a Muslim country, isn't it? Being in a nice hotel and going down for breakfast and you see it...and then you remember!
We had 2 weeks in a lovely place when we got here - with a wonderful spread in the morning - and not once did I touch the bacon.
Man can not live on steak alone...
...so this evening I had Short Ribs sous vide and oh my god it was fucking good:
#StillLivingThatBachelorLife
Oocha fckr!
Experiment underway.
One half, salt no pepper and olive oil.
Other half, in pineapple purée.
Good to go soon.
45 mins later I pulled them from the fridge and rinsed them both off with water.
pineapple on the left was practically falling to bits.
So I decided to go a bit rarer than planned, before the pineapple side completely disintegrated.
Pineapple first:
Salt, pepper and olive oil:
Both sides were bloody good.
The pineapple side needed salt and pepper and retained a fruity tinge to it, as suspected.
The other side didn’t need any. I preferred the texture. All the juices on the plate came when I cut this one open.
Conclusion:
It was already a quality cut, no need for the pineapple to tenderise. It certainly did though.
It might be a better idea to try it again with a shit cut.
Lang may yer lum reek...
Or an excuse to eat more steak? But that looked quality. Conclusion:
It was already a quality cut, no need for the pineapple to tenderise. It certainly did though.
It might be a better idea to try it again with a shit cut.
And at those prices, no excuse for buying shit cuts in the first place.
That's the first time I've seen you post a curry Snubbles!
Did you make it yourself or was it a 2 mins in the microwave job.
Either way, I feel a curry night coming on ...
Haha
Mine turned out pretty good last night, but I overdid the cinnamon a bit.
PAG used to be the undisputed curry king, but the title is up for grabs now he's no longer around!
How did you do the rice, Snubs?
Great plates, Topper.
Good to see you're getting your greens.![]()
Had a bash at this stir fry mallarky!
Chitty's Bish, Bash, Bosh stir fry!
Fresh garlic, ginger, red onion and broccoli with pork.
5 minutes frying it with oyster and soya sauce.
Some pepper and chilli powder.
Then bish in the rice at the last minute.
Bashed together, piss easy.
Bosh!
Need to work on my presentation as it tasted great!
