Yes echoes of what Pat said ,, unfortunately after work lastnight I was cooking and dining alone so it was a chicken + mushroom pasty from the freezer + peas + " STEAK CHIPS " from Iceland ,, TBH they resembled wood chips I wont be buying that crap againOriginally Posted by DJ Pat
its chicken breast, pesto and feta cheese combined, almonds and there was some bacon too, oh and a leaf
looks the bollox mate, love pesto. sii keow on its way if i"m able coz i cant post smilies or post pics for some reason.
The start of dinner tonight.
Not long after, done. Photography skills are shit, presentation is rough, and too heavy on the onions for some most likely. But fuck it, this is what home cooks enjoy doing![]()

I am assuming ( mabe wrongly) you live in a land where you have access to a vast variety of fresh veg all you have come up with is some frozen veg + some packet chemical concoction disguised as gravy + some processed sausage with God knows what in ?????? really mate are you serious ??
Sit on me and squash me if I am wrong
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()
^ Got to disagree with that one Nige. Those sausages look like they're heaving with flavour, he's got some fresh spuds and frozen veg are known to be just as healthy as fresh and even more so in some instances, depending on how long the fresh ones have been in transport & on the shelves.
You're being a bit of a food snob I reckon.![]()
A few points in my own defense:
(1) As much as I love to cook, it's usually only for myself as my Thai GF prefers local food and believes that anything more than a small taste of Farang food will make her fat!.
(2) This being the case, I like making myself quick simple meals.
(3) As correctly pointed out by others, frozen veg like this has the same taste and nutrition as same-day-picked in most cases according to plenty of nutritionists. My diet has plenty of fresh fruit and veg in it so to me, putting a cup full of snap-frozen veg on the side of a plate now and then is no problem at all.
(4) I know exactly what's in the sausages, cook them to medium-rare, and wish some "Master Butcher" () in Thailand would/could make ones like these which I have cryovaced in packs of 5, freeze, and bring home each year Famous Thick Rump Sausages - Cav's Steakhouse, Kitchen and Butchery
Just saying!.
I would eat that like right quick smart, but you are in OZ and Good meat is plentiful .
Sadly it is not here, so you bring it across, I used to do the same. when I travelled regularly. Now days I am stuck with the local crap.
BTW your right, cavs meat is superb, eat in or delivery, hard to beat, do they deliver to issan?
There can’t be good living where there is not good drinking
Yes possibly ,, but only my honest opinion .Originally Posted by Aberlour
I just think about all the fresh variety of veg when I walk around any of the little markets and even the huge selections in Tesco,s also the very cheap cost of it all compared to what little choice we have in the UK + the exorbitant prices we have to pay for it.
BUT each to theyre own and I,m sure Hwrkx is very happy with his plateful .
BTW your GF is correct for not eating farang food to keep her slim , mine has put the weight on over here eating our same old same ,, allthough its fair to say we eat about 75% Thai food .
Chern Chim have cryovaced Ocker meat, so 'yes' - kind of.Originally Posted by peterpan
Lucky lucky me ,, my little darling has cooked me some street grub and put it on the living room table ,,,,, bless her little heart it was a real taste of Thailand ,, simple food but well appreciated .

who lays the table nig..very neat. grub looks great
You're lucky to have a girl that can cook Nigelandjan, that looks really nice + the presentation is excellent. Looks like you're in a restaurant and have commandeered their tv remote!.
Tonight's dinner, oven baked ribs.
They've been in the fridge since yesterday. The marinade is just a simple mix of a few different BBQ sauces + some extras like honey, garlic, garlic salt, onion, chilies, and Tabasco to taste. Anyway, they get wrapped in an tin foil parcel and baked at low temp (about 110 C) for 3 hours or so.
The end result is the meat should be falling off the bone and the gristley bits are are soft. A bit of reserved marinade sauce poured over them and some potato salad or whatever else on the side and the job's done. I couldn't think of a much easier no-mess thing to cook that tastes this good![]()
