Kids stopping by on the way through, left overs lunch. Yesterday in the supermarket got a chitty special; a load of peppers and courgettes discounted so ratatouille it is, with some new pots and sausages that need using up.

6 peppers, a very large onion, 3 courgettes, 1 lemon, a small bulb of garlic, 2 tins of toms, a load of EVOO, salt, pepper, a dash of sugar and herbs de provence bubble away for a bit. Enough for lunch and some for the freezer.

Interesting, but I bet it would work. Some kind of spicy sausage would go with that too I reckon, maybe a chorizo in with the rat...rata...ratat...stewed vegetables.

Just marinating the pork belly for my jeyuk bokkeum tomorrow.

Very reasonable. I'll have a full rack, 8pm tomorrow, to Daejeon.

Thursday is curry day, so it was rice and three at another of my old Pakistani chaat house haunts on the backstreets of town with the pimps, hustlers and Chitty types.

Who the fuck slipped that korma on the bloody menu?!??!??! Has that southern ponce Dil been here?

    Lunch ... the second course-merhaba-jpg

They do a cracking naan at this place in the tandoor, so I gave my usual chapati a swerve in favour of the bad boy below with tarka daal, spinach and potato and chicken karahi. Could have done with a bit more sauce with the chicken, but it was still mint and a handful of chopped chilies on top set me up nicely for tonight's heartburn attack.

May we never be separated, curry, you bloody lovely food of the gods.

Seven days since my last. At about 2.30 tomorrow, I will be ensuring that it doesn't become a ninth.

3.65 Canadian. Works out to 94.43 Baht for a slice of pizza that doesn't fit in a regular sized plate + drink

On the subject of pizza, this place was recommended to me by a couple of Italians over here for the summer (from Naples no less) Rudy'''s Neapolitan Pizza - Home, so I popped in on Friday.

    Lunch ... the second course-20230728-144220-jpg

It's a chain but was very good and reasonably priced for the crazy times we're living in.

Obligatory football scarf behind the bar...and Napoli too so keeping the Neapolitan vibe real.

    Lunch ... the second course-20230728-144404-jpg

No quattro formaggi on the menu so went for a margherita and a cinghiale.

    Lunch ... the second course-20230728-144432-jpg

    Lunch ... the second course-20230728-145621-jpg

A bit stingy on the basil and salami (a ridiculously good wild boar salami, mind) but still decent pizzas.

Two good pizzas and a couple of beers for 30 quid for 2 of us. That's value!

    ^ That does look good.

I've had a few of those Porettis these last few weeks and it's OK.

When I was growing up my mum put a roast on the table every single Sunday, and she still does when we visit. It's always chicken and there are always peas.

And this was a small plate.

Who can clean their plate? That's an incredible amount of superb good look food, but that's a lot.

To be honest it looks bigger than it was. That's only a moderate chicken leg and three pieces of roast potato, to get things in scale. The plates are small.

I understand completely. We had the same tradition in the US...about 50 years ago, sad to say. It was the after church lunch thing for us.

^^ cooking for three kids a sunday lunch for me used to be 2 chickens or a 2 Kg Pork joint, that was Sunday and Monday/Tuesday and some sandwiches + about 3 Kgs of Veg - you soon learn to cook once feed twice or more.

^ We wiill have cold chicken and stuffing sandwiches for tea. It would also normally be lunch tomorrow but I still have fish an' chips to cross off my list and also picked up some lamb chops today for another lunch. And only two lunches to go!

They should go in the Daily Cheer thread really, I got 7 chops for the price of 6 as the butcher wanted to finish them up.
