Our nanny, who is not an uneducated woman by any means, wears a Che Guevara t-shirt on Sundays when she goes to bible group . . .

I asked her if she knew that the guy was a mass murderer . . . 'Oh no', was her response, 'this is a very popular t-shirt back home in the Philippines'.

Can't see how Beck as a point at all. Invoking Hitler and the Holocaust in order to put them in association with the Left...saying these people could be setting the stage for another Holocaust...? By whom against whom...?

Even discussing this in such terms gives that filthy little money maker credence he doesn't deserve.

Jonah Goldbergs book says Hitler and the Nazi's were left wing.
Beck should follow up with an epic Tome about how liberal Attila the Hun and Genghis Khan were.
The same people would buy it.

I'm not sure of the actual context Beck made his statement but I am seeing it as a non-specific comment, not meant directly in regard to the Jewish holocaust. Of course I may be wrong, seems to eb the order of the day today.

I thought the comment was about propaganda as such . . . but then he is as guilty as anyone else of this.

Their party was called national socialist party of German workers so I guess Jonah was not so much spot off.

Socialist in this context doesn't signify a left/right schism.

Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, means Nationalsocialist German Worker's party.

Difficult to explain, but because the words national and socialist are one word the meaning is different.

For a more contemporary example one could be written about the horrific lack of 'Freedom & Democracy'(TM) in the Republic of Korea as compared to the 'Freedom Loving'(TM) Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The National in front of sozialistische was needed to distinguish (and actually fight) from the other socialists who were international (meaning Soviet Union dependant). The party was founded to implement a national socialism without giving up sovereignity to the Soviets.

Which does not detract from the linguistic nuance, but yes you have a point also

Dunno. I watched him last Monday on the eve of the MA election and all he talked about was the first anniversary of his show. Before that he had some Mormon nutter on there. He is also repetitive, like he ran out of fodder. Sometimes, I just shut him off.

Beck had a Mormon on his TV show? What this Mormon open about his religion? Was he discussing his Mormon beliefs?

I'm curious because beck is a converted Mormon, and many Mormon views are outright bizarre.

^ It was a few weeks ago. I think the guy was touting a book. I rolled my eyes and shut it off, but also e-mailed Beck and told him he was a nutter, too.

^ The Glenn Beck audience is the dummy market. He uses cartoons, and animated bobble heads to explain the basic principles. Ratings also spur his childish behavior. A converted Mormon, also.

In the days when you used to see Che T shirts and posters at demonstrations and bookstores I did a little research on the guy and was appalled that the murderer was a hero to all the "...huminist" types. Obvious answer to your question is that he's a romantic figure to someone smitten by the revolution but doesn't do their homework.
