    From Firedoglake,………..

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King delivered what is arguably the greatest address in American History, the “I have a Dream Speech”. Forty-Seven years later, Will Bunch notes, Glenn Beck aspires to deliver his Nightmare:

He’s working on something called “The Plan” (which seems to involve a book, although I’m sure he’s donating the profits back to “the cause) that will be unveiled at what he hopes will be a massive rally on Aug. 28 at the Lincoln Memorial, on the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King delivering his “I Have a Dream” speech at or about the same sport. But to work up to what he says will be a 100-year plan, Beck is starting out with a series of what he initially called “educational seminars” and he’s now calling “American Revival.”

It’s as offensive as it is stupid — so it will undoubtedly be given as much coverage as possible.

The Plan, is so much more than sounding like the plot of Battlestar Galatica. As you know by now, “the Plan” is entirely based on a re-writing of American history by a composite of John Birchers and pseudo-historians who, among other things, think slavery was rather awesome.

All commemorated on the same sacred Lincoln Memorial spot that gave us the vision of Marian Anderson and Dr. King.

^ Firedoglake *smirk* The rewriting is being performed by bamboy and his ilk; hek, even the North Carolina school board wants to exclude US history before 1877 from its books. Ya, that Republican Lincoln guy isn't important, nor is that Washington geek with the wig.

Anybody watch Beck's speech at CPAC?

As per his standard MO it went all over the place, but one interesting bit was this:

"I educated myself. I went to the Library where books are free."

Free? Somebody should tell him that taxes pay for the libraries, plus the buildings and the electricity to keep the lights on. They sound a bit socialisty to me. Does Beck think that everybody has a right to libraries?

I can't find a transcript online yet, but the line comes at about 9 minutes into the third video clip HERE

For added lulz at about the 8 minute mark he says that he was the first in his family to go to college but he only stayed for one semester and took one class. That gets him applause from the audience until he says he dropped out because of money, you can almost hear the audience hoping he would say he dropped out because his college was a liberal and elitist or something.

^ Beck has a high school education.

I don't believe in the "standard education system" to mean if someone is, or is not "educated."

I believe self-education and critical thinking in any topic means, "educated."

But Glenn Beck is not at this level of "self-education" either.

Broad generalization, saying things that are factually false, and over-simplifiying the issues.

(Yes, for ratings, one does have to be "dumb.")

He does not come off as well-read at all.

His show has been past the fringe lately. Getting a way bit too full of himself.

As opposed to the other side of the isle? Both sides are a bunch of elitist A$$ Holes who have stopped listening to the American people, and believe that they and their Harvard educations knows whats best for the rest of us. If there was ever a time for the emergence of a third party now is the time... Problem here is there is no on worth the trouble of voting for..........

I don't see anyone comparable to Beck on the 'other side'. To O'Reilly, yes, and to many others . . . but not Beck. He is in a class of his own. Low class

It's not about "getting an issue, or issues wrong."

It's the way his opinions are presented. He cherry picks stats, doesn't cite sources, uses weasel words, and card stack numbers.

Agenda? I don't know if he has an agenda. That's never been apparent, but he is not an independent like he claims. He's a cryptic GOPer. It's better for ratings, and safer to claim to be an independent for these TV show personality.

Again, his economic discussion are at the high school level.

As stated, I see his interviews and show on an regular basis from "economicrot" blog.

Thank you Milkman for a perfect critique of that bloated, bi-polar mouthpiece of the wingnut branch of the GOP. Ron Paul, on the other hand, is a reasonably coherent, cogent and persuasive libertarian whose ideas are somewhat appealing even to an old unregenerate liberal like me.

Beck is on a roll this week talking about tax hikes to feed the Progressive appitite. When some ignorant Americans elected this outrageously unqualified community activist who has spent his entire life surrounded by communists, conventional wisdom says itwould result in lower taxes for the vast majority of Americans. That was the promise the Field-Hand made. But the hype that installed this so-called socialist utopia is over. Now come the tax hikes:
The White House's new health-care proposal promises the "largest middle class tax cut for health care in history," which is a creative way of describing a vast taxpayer-subsidized insurance entitlement. Naturally, the fine print goes on to describe one of the largest tax increases for health care in history, too.
War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength. Tax hikes are tax cuts.

Maddow's the only one with the smarts,
On Meet The Press the week before last she confronted the GOP congressman
who was at a ribbon cutting event for stimulus money having voted against the stimulus,
but was now happy to take credit.
As a policy wonk she does her homework and knows and can debate the etail.
A refreshing change from the GOP talking point spoutings of Faux News and the
delusional rantings of Limbaugh and Olbermann.
The MSM should test politicos of both parties about their stance and knowledge on the issues - sadly it barely amount to a soundbite.
Maddow delves into the issue having actually done her homework and almost always declares her own partisan viewpoint.
We need more integrity as well as intellectual honesty back into real debate.
Not more hackneyed partisanship that stems from K Street talking points memos.

As for Glen Beck - crockodile tears and lobbyists' agendas do not a newsman or broadcaster make.
He's flack selling soiled GOP product.
