Explosions Hit Security Ministry in Breakaway Transnistria

The interior ministry of Transnistria, a separatist Moscow-backed territory in Moldova, said Monday that the state security ministry's offices had been hit in what appeared to be a grenade-launcher attack.

No one was injured in the incident, which happened at around 6:00 pm on a public holiday for the Orthodox Easter, the ministry added.

But windows had been blown out in the state security ministry building and "smoke is billowing out of the buildings", the Transnistria region's interior ministry said in a statement.

According to preliminary information, the attackers had used a hand-held anti-tank grenade launcher, the ministry said.

Pervy Pridnestrovsky television channel cited witnesses as saying they had heard several blasts. De-miners, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene.

Neither the leadership in Transnistria nor the Moldovan government have yet commented on the incident.

Transnistria is an unrecognised Moscow-backed breakaway region that borders western Ukraine.

Moscow still has a military base there as well as a stockpile of some 20,000 tonnes of munitions.

This attack comes after a senior Russian military official last week raised the issue of Russian speakers in Transnistria in the context of Russia's military operation in Ukraine.

Major General Rustam Minnekayev, acting commander of the central military district, on Friday said Russia sought control of southern Ukraine, which could provide access to Transnistria, "where there have been cases of oppression of the Russian-speaking population".

Moldova's foreign ministry summoned Russia's ambassador over the comments, which it called "unfounded and contradicting Russia's position in support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country within internationally recognised borders".

Ship them back to Russia. NATO should move into Moldova now and move in hard.

Russia seen loading nuclear-capable missiles onto submarines heading to Ukraine

The threat of nuclear war by Russia has ramped up after new leaked images show a Russian submarine being stocked up with nuclear-capable missiles.

Lethal Kalibr strategic missiles have been spotted being put onto a Veliky Novogorod diesel-electric submarine, which is thought to be heading to Ukraine to potentially be used in the invasion.

It was in the dock in Sevastopol, according to the Ukraine Now Telegram channel.

“Russian Kalibr-type cruise missiles were loaded onto the Veliky Novgorod diesel-electric submarine - the very ones bombing the peaceful cities of Ukraine.

The loading several days ago came ahead of a mission by the submarine in the Black Sea.

Ukraine's Yug operation command said: “By blocking shipping, conducting surface situation detection and aerial reconnaissance, [the Russians] continue to carry the threat of a missile attack on almost the entire territory of Ukraine."

The last time the missile was spotted and used was in 2014 when Russian submarines in the Mediterranean sea launched them on positions of the rebels in Idlib, Syria.

Russian defence minister Sergey Shoigu has boasted that deployment in Syria from the Caspian Sea “confirmed a high effectiveness of the missiles at major distances of nearly 1500 km (932 miles).”

The Kalibr can carry both nuclear and conventional warheads.

Conventional warheads are believed to be on the pier where the submarine is tethered in Sevastopol, in Crimea, annexed from Ukraine in 2014.

The Kalibr has been used in the current war to target Ukraine, but the missile is prone to misfiring as seen last year from a warship on Russia ’s Pacific coast.

What a silly article. The Kalibir missile has been used often in this conflict. The article even states it has been used in Ukraine, contradicting itself from a few sentences earlier.

"The last time the missile was spotted and used was in 2014"
"The Kalibr has been used in the current war to target Ukraine"

Have a look around Telegram, or even Youtube, and you'll see plenty of footage of Kalibir missiles being launched towards Ukraine.

I read that there are two brigades of Ukrainian troops massed at the border of Transnistria/Moldova.

I guess that's where the next kalibir missiles will be heading.

⚡The Transnistrian case is very important for Ukraine. There, under the protection of Russian peacekeepers, there is the largest ammunition depot in Europe. Given their severe shortage, Kyiv is probably willing to take the risk. It's only 2 km from the border.

Russian Spies Hilariously Screw Up Putin’s ‘Assassination Plot’ Claim

During a Monday meeting at Moscow’s Prosecutor General’s Office, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a shocking accusation, announcing the arrest of several accused assassins who were allegedly planning to kill prominent Russian state TV journalist and ardent Putin loyalist Vladimir Solovyov.

“This morning, organs of the FSB halted the activities of a terrorist group that was planning an attack and a murder of a prominent Russian TV journalist,” Putin stated, claiming that the plot was orchestrated by “high-ranking diplomatic officials in Europe and the United States” who are striving to divide Russian society and “destroy Russia from within.” Putin alleged that the West’s failure to prevail on the information front of the war in Ukraine has prompted it “to resort to terror, to arrange the killings of our journalists.” He added: “We know the names of the sponsors from Western intelligence agencies, first of all—of course—from the United States’ CIA, which are working with Ukraine’s security services.”

Russia’s notorious FSB counterintelligence agency released a video of the arrests, as well as so-called “behind-the-scenes” footage of agents searching and seizing property allegedly found at the suspects’ apartment, which was posted in its entirety by state media outlet RIA Novosti on Telegram. The footage showed an array of items laid out in the apartment, including a photograph of Adolf Hitler, six pristine-looking Ukrainian passports, a blonde wig, and brand new T-shirts emblazoned with swastikas that appeared to bear fresh creases from recent shipping.

But the seemingly brand new items weren’t the only curious elements depicted in the FSB video footage. In the original video, three copies of a Sims video game were shown laid out on the bed, as well as a book containing a menacing inscription, stating in part: “Kill to live and live to kill,” signed with the name of “Signature unclear.”

    Ukraine war mega thread-2cd4bf1f-1544-4be1-b6d7-9b87d4167258-jpeg

Social media users were quick to point that the SIMS game and “Signature unclear” could be signs that the arrest was part of an FSB hoax gone wrong, pointing out the directives for setting up the scene of the crime might have included planting three SIM cards and signing the book with an indiscernible signature—and that these instructions might have been misunderstood or taken too literally by the agents. Perhaps realizing their agents have flubbed, official videos posted by the FSB on its YouTube channel excluded the book and blurred the images of the SIMS video games.

Probably a sensible idea to try and get some sort of protection before they get attacked by Puffy Putin's "peacekeepers".

Difficult to say, not committing to sending heavy stuff probably has a lot to do with keeping the coalition government united.

Sending heavy weapons to Ukraine rather than simply reinforcing Nato countries on the perimeter is definitely an escalation.
