Yup there are some clever people about Chas ,, sort of people I aspire to , but will never make the grade due to my low ability .
However I enjoy the challenge everyday I paint .
Thanks for contributing
Another brush with acrylics today
This is a little local harbour town near to us Brightlingsea Essex
Really coming along the Nige...
Thanks a lot SFB mate ,, means a lot if some take the trouble to make a comment ,, good or otherwise it don't matter ,, I think this thread has had over 600 views since the last comment
Shame old Bluey has disappeared he always had a point of view and I very much appreciated them.
Mabe if you have time you can grace us with a bit of your artwork mate ?
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs![]()
Yes please do ^ any contributions here will be made very welcome !
I havnt got much time this weekend as tomorrow were off to Brands Hatch for the BSB meeting but I just had to paint something after work today so I set myself a little challenge to do an oil painting without using a brush at all .
Well here we are Dartmoor before the storm in oil on acrylic paper using only my fingers and a mixing knife

The grass and hedges/walls look good, Nigel, for only using your fingers and a mixing knife.
I will try and do it again with a time lapse video for anyone who is interested ^ to demonstrate how its done
There is a guy who lives near to me has asked me to paint some local scenes for him to go in his new house he has just moved into .
What I have done here is a practice painting in acrylics painted roughly on water colour paper I have primed .
This is behind his new house about 3kms from where i live
I will use this sketch to develop a nice oil painting for him

Some pretty talented participants. Look forward to more examples.
My first Thames barge I have painted with the sails up , this was going around the coast near to where I live ,, there are lots of these about this time of the year
Lovely old vessels
TBH this isn't like a finished painting this is just a rough mock practice for this subject as I have orders for 3 of them with someone
This is painted firstly in acrylic then I have gone over certain areas in oil paint
Painted this today plei air ,, what a beautiful day I had to ,, many people on holiday down here walking past and stopping to chat to me ,, wonderful way to spend a sunny Sunday in the UK

Yesterday my boss said I have no work for your lorry tomorrow Nigel i.e. Saturday morning , so he said you can come in and wash lorries until lunchtime if you want .
I said " I'll see you Monday have a nice weekend "
Instead I painted this Thames barge going past near to where I live at a place called Wivenhoe , now the relevance of all this waffle is that I have made 3 times in money what I would have done going in to work as this is one of eleven paintings I have now been asked to paint for various clients .
Hope there is no work next Sat , and the next one and the next
Great to be having a lovely days painting and earning a bit of cash on the side
