Secret radio monitoring site in Burma...
Actually, it is my amateur radio station in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.
The authorities insist that I live at a hotel - renting a house or condo is not allowed for foreigners. This is a field at the hotel where I stay (my room is the one on the ground floor at the corner).
There's the vertical antenna in the foreground and behind it are 3 vertical hanging wires (weighted with water bottles) that are a Yagi beam antenna for transmitting on 21 MHz.
I have to construct everything myself, due to lack of materials and the impossibility to import professional equipment.
Anyway, with this very modest set-up, I have worldwide contacts with radio hams, (since I set up this station in March, I've managed to chat with hams in 110 different countries).
Of course, it would be a lot easier to just send them a text message...![]()

From latest road trip - Mayon Volcano and Cagsawa Church Ruins in the town of Daraga, province of Albay, PI. The volcano erupted in 1814 and buried the town of Cagsawa in lava. Now only the belfry of the church remains.
the local tourism office put a buffalo there for pic purposes
the requisite souvenir shops
sili (chili) ice cream - that area is known for spicy food (but not as spicy as Th food, I think)
pls help again in reloading pics. My net is &$%@. Thanks much!![]()
^^salamat for reposting the pix, skkin!
btw, Mayon Volcano erupted early this year (Jan to Feb) - it's an active volcano. My group was lucky to see its peak, as sometimes it's hidden by clouds.
It's the name of an urban area just outside Redruth in Cornwall. Here is the Google map street view of it.

And it seems I'm right, it is a former toll house (see halfway down the page - Blowing House)
http://www.turnpikes.org.uk/Tollhous...20Cornwall.htm
And what appears to be a sign on the house stating that it's an old Toll House.

Little help please.
Might go on a bit of a bike ride tomorrow. Not really feeling like going too far.
Options are pretty much:
Original Black Princess on the outskirts of Bkk. Dinner n stay in her place.
Ayuthaya. Hotel n nurse from last year.
Kanchanaburi. Hotel n travel agent from last year.
Mate is in Pattaya, head down for some madness.
Exercise in the morning, shopping, then sofa for the rest of the day.
To be honest I'm feeling a bit tired, and can't decide between any of them.
^^no probs, lulu. If ever you're in or near Manila, visit Tagaytay city - you'll see Taal Volcano and lake from there. I may even tour you and Ms. Bombata around. Heh...
as to your current dilemma, no comment.![]()
Well, you learn something new everyday, as they say: I was taking some photos of dragonflies and damselflies in a small pond, not far from our home, when I came across this strange looking bug.
It's commonly known as an owlfly (Ascalaphidae). It is like a dragonfly but has long antenna and big eyes. I have never seen one before and didn't know they existed until I I tried to identify it. I think this is Ascalaphus sinister, or one very similar: https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Ascalaphus_sinister
