^ How rude, but true I guess.

    I'm not a professional cook.

It was from Tesco in the UK!

Have you seen the price of tinned salmon in Villa Market? That's if they even have it.

It's like finding hen's teeth in Thailand.

^ I miss his braised oxtail and his soups, end of. Which reminds me, I must get to the market tomorrow so I can raise the standard of this thread.

And I found out it was 'Randie', not 'Randy'.

Tough crowd Mendy. I for one think its one of your better efforts.

Funnily enough a small tin of that Tesco wild red salmon fell in my pocket the other day after noticing the £4.25 price tag.

I've been wondering what to do with it and would love to hear your recipe

    Doesn't look bad.

Stumpy is a bit picky with food that doesn't look and taste like charcoal.

The beans/fish cake fusion might be taking the artistic licence a bit too far though.

Absolutely not true. I do up various types of salads 2 or 3 times a week, Tacos the other day, grilled salmon with fresh veggies, various Thai dishes and of course a nice cut of beef or a pork chop off the grill with taters and veggies.

That said though, I have never seen " Green colored " fish or crab cakes and never ( until Mendys pic) have I seen them served with runny beans.

Firstly, you should get the pink salmon, it's half the price of the red and tastes the same in a fishcake. And I got eight fishcakes out of one small tin so we can enjoy another fishcake meal later in the week. They were a bit potatoey though.

Make mashed potato, add the salmon (after straining) and knead all together with an egg or two. At this point you can add extras such as leftover mashed up peas, sprouts and carrots (yes Stumpy, that is where the green colour came from). Season to taste and then divide into balls and roll in breadcrumbs. If you have time you can then leave in the fridge for a while to firm up a bit, but that's a step I can rarely fit in.

Then lightly fry until golden brown!

It's a versatile recipe and if you fancy tuna fishcakes, simply exchange the tin of salmon for a tin of tuna. If you have some leftover lamb, chop or mince and add to the potato and you have lamb rissoles. Etc etc.

Took the wife out for some Korean food last night (and it wasn't even her birthday...) - t'was ok. Total cost was about US$10, so very affordable for Korea.

The banchan looks pretty scarce. Did you munch on the peppers?

I don't eat the banchan much, the wife does. I usually eat the pepper/chilli things (can be dangerous, can be lightweight - one never knows when taking a bite...), but didn't on this occasion. The food was a tad bland - the wife's cooking is much more to my taste, but I usually try a Korean once a month or so (what with living in Korea and all...

I'd love to try this Korean:

I did some with corned beef, which I thought were superb, but the wife didn't like them because they didn't pair well with rice.
