Here,s the scones she cooked for after dinner

I tell you what there are many old grannies here, who turn out scones like that for W.I competitions every year,, let alone my little ol gal from deepest Issan who had never opened an oven door untill 4 years ago . I am so proud of her efforts![]()
Sorry Soupdeloops I had actually posted Bazza,s pic for him , before your efforts , but my bloody interweb thing went missing then came back on when I was in the shower
Absolutely salivating over that one!. I don't know how to bake (never tried) but one of my favourite things in life is going to a hot-bread shop at sunrise in Oz when visiting there and buying a few of these for breakfast. They look exactly the same as yours and really are one of lifes little pleasures.
Toslti...I take it back.
They look fantastic!
I am just glad there was no clotted cream on that, or else I would have had to flown backl to blighty right now.Originally Posted by Headworx

They wouldn't be out of place in Bettys tea rooms in Harrogate.
I have noticed Betty's in Harrogate being mentioned a couple of times.Originally Posted by charleyboy

Is my recollection correct? Did it/Does it exist in York?
I only new Bettys in Harrogate.
Apparently they are all over Yorkshire.
BTW. I would have spelt it like you but, Betty doesn't!
Right in the heart of York, you’ll find St Helen’s Square and our York branch of Bettys.
In 1936 the founder of Bettys, Frederick Belmont, travelled on the maiden voyage of the Queen Mary. He was so enthralled by the splendour of the ship that he commissioned the Queen Mary’s designers and craftsmen to turn a dilapidated furniture store into his most sophisticated branch yet – an elegant café in the land-locked location of St Helen’s Square. Today, as you sit in Bettys surrounded by huge curved windows, elegant wood panelling and ornate mirrors, you can almost imagine yourself aboard a luxury liner.
The art deco elegance of the Queen Mary is particularly evident in our first floor Belmont Room which was inspired by one of the cruise liner’s state rooms. Throughout the year we host musical evenings and events here.
A few years after Bettys opened its doors in York war broke out, and Bettys – in particular the basement ‘Bettys Bar’ – became a favourite haunt of thousands of airmen stationed around York. ‘Bettys Mirror’, on which many of them engraved their signatures with a diamond pen, remains on display today as a fitting tribute to their bravery.

Looks delicious. What's with the new fashion with the square plates?

^ That's the curry I was doing the thread on, Kooj. Dunno. Mr NR just has square dinner plates.

^ Where's his square pint glass ?![]()

^ He drinks lager (from the can), voddy, or wine. Never seen him drink ale type beer - sorry![]()
