    Funny you say that Lu-Lu.

We did spend the night in Kantharalak but Noodles had been called back to work a few days before.

So we had a few beers and a feed on the main street and hit the fart sack around 11 PM.

Rural Isaan. Love it or hate it. Got a mate living down the road in Khun Han and an Ex between the two. I love to visit the area, but fookin 'ell 3 days is enough before I need to skate on.

Almost visited the Erawan national park but the double pricing prevented this. I'm a man of principle and no stupid fat smug grinning bitch in a kiosk is gonna separate me from 300 Baht. GF woulda got in for 50 Baht as she's a uni student. She was also disgusted.....at my tantrum.

17km down the road is Tha Tung Na dam, which was deserted. A backpacking French couple turned up wanting to have a swim. Or more likely, a bath.

Fuck risking a swim in there.

Got a lovely sun tan as well. Everyone's a winner.

    Very nice.

That whole area is lovely. The motorbike route is called the Si Sawat Loop.

You obviously didn't get yourself a Thai ID card or passport, if they're hassling for double pricing. The (Westernized) lukreungs I've been friends with out here have been the same.

I always found it a bit odd, as it would open so many doors and opportunities here, having a Thai passport, being fully fluent in Thai and Thai culture, whist being a naive English speaker raised in a Western culture. Especially with some sort of specialized degree, I think it would open so many doors here with international businesses.

Anyway, nice to see some limestone rocks! The lake looks lovely.

^^Funny you mention that but it's always made far from simple. Three different offices give three different stories about what documents are required, they make it up as they go along and you simply can't talk to a superior if you disagree as they lose face. You just have to turn and walk out.

Got fed up of it. Last time was in 2006. I have more respect for toilet cleaners than the cock starved miserable old hags I've dealt with.

To be honest it requires more work than I'm prepared to offer, so who cares. I do use the parentage documents to get whatever length visas I want without a hitch, as the immigration offices are now well versed in the half breeds being automatically entitled to this. And the ladies I deal with there are absolutely lovely.

Apart from the occasional tourist attraction scenario, I've never been made to regret not making the effort. Anyway all that crap belongs in another thread.

On the way back the traffic had to slow down for a tractor crawling along.
Was odd seeing Thai drivers showing patience and not trying to overtake.

I would still go for it not least because with a UK and a Thai passport, pretty much every country in the world is open to you visa free - assuming you like travelling. I'm expecting my Brand New Irish passport at the end of the month (Dad born in Antrim as part of the occupying forces but that still entitles me to an Irish passport apparently). Can't be that hard in thailand if you prove parentage. Have you tried in the Thai embassy?
