If you slice them up thinly, after cooking, they make great sandwiches with whatever else you have kicking about and a spicy mayo.

90km rount trip for me to Hat Yai Airport

However, whenever I'm there anyway, I generally go for a Kopi Tiam next door to BK.

The daughter only ate half of her breast, said it was too spicy, so tandoori chicken sandwiches I will have!

I found some lentils but they need to be soaked overnight, so a dahl didn't seem to be practical.

So last night I went with tandoori chicken with baked potato, baked carrot and an exotic pepper and mange tout stir fry.

    Not too bad at all.

Korat Chef really do make living in Isaan a lot more bearable.

We have a new Makro style place in Hat Yai called Go Wholesale and I was quite impressed, I'm off back to work in the next few days so mostly just bought booze for the bar, notably Asahi beer and Fireball.

I also knocked up 6 bottles of Black Shit to tide them over in my absence.

5 Immigration cops swooped in during the process, but mostly just saw a couple of foreigners having a good time and wanted some photos to show they were actually doing their job.

Theyu only wanted to know our names, so I guess we weren't on their list.

    Nice chaps.

That chicken looks great Mendy and the plate was pleasantly pea free.

We've got a few 'Go Wholesale' here in Phuket, could be for about a year or so now. They are part of the Central brand, so have a (at least in my opinion) more professional approach for display and marketing than who they are competing with, Makro. That said, they still lag behind Makro in some product availability, but they seem to be getting there.

Laotian Pixie pulled up with a hamper of food to see me through the week

    Home made chicken soup
    Stirfry Rice
    Lamb stew
    Snowballs
    Cream Cake
    Mangoes
    Chocolate donuts
    Snickers
    Bananas
    Crab balls
    Grapes
    Home made cake
    Milk

I like how the crab claws stick out of the crab balls like horror movie hands from beyond the grave

Home made chicken soup while watching both the lady's semis

I made a decent dent in the cream pie without any help

    TMI

Tonight I had tender Lamb rump with Cannellini bean puree, wild garlic Salsa, Manx green beans and Jersey Red roasted wedges liberally covered with a pink Himalayan salt.

Very much outside my comfort zone.

We have a garden and dogs that bring home chickens they picked up in the neighbour's gardens a couple of times a week. That suits me most of the time when I'm home in the sticks...

It comes in leaf form and grows beside streams here.

Very strong in flavour, needs a good wash because dogs love pissing on it.

except its not spring yet and its not out. Wild garlic starts to emerge in the south first and over some weeks that spring burst travels north. In the south it starts c late Feb

    ^ Thank you, kind Sir.

We have had the unexpected pleasure of our germ-ridden daughter this week, needing to come home to recuperate from suspected flu.

Her temperature hit over 40 degrees, so there was certainly something going on, and I know that she's not the type to exaggerate.

Incidentally, we popped into the Bangkok Ratchasima Hospital on the way home to see a doc, who suggested an ATK Influenza test before dishing out an armful of tablets.

She also mentioned that the ATK tests only have around 50% accuracy. I mean, WTF.

I suggested we just flip a coin to get the same accuracy... but of course paid for the ATK test (which was negative... or was it?).

Anyway, the daughter asked for all her favourites in the few days she's been home.

Last night was fish an' chips.

I seem to have lost my knack for fish an' chips, which is a shame because this was Korat Chef's finest haddock.

It just lacked that certain 'something', and even the mushy pea fritter was just not right.

Tonight's request was lamb, which the wife sorted out because I was still despondent over my drainage problems.

    Not to mention Bristol City.

I hate to admit it, but the wife probably outdid me with the roast.

    And she's a bladdy foreigner!

    FFS...
