    Bargain- get me 2.

This November, Fridays are for flavourful escapes to Thailand.

Join us at selected Shepherd Neame pubs and treat yourself to an authentic Pad Thai, perfectly paired with a crisp pint of Singha, the original Thai beer – all for just £20.

Crafted by our Executive Chef Ellina Smith, whose passion for Thai cuisine blossomed during her three-year stay in Thailand, this dish is a tribute to authentic flavours and culinary expertise.

Expect stir-fried rice noodles tossed in a delightfully sweet and sour tamarind sauce, topped with crushed peanuts and served alongside tender chicken satay skewers.

Each dish is perfectly complemented by a refreshingly light pint of Singha.

Don't miss out on this mouth-watering pairing!

Blimey, my Pad Thai costs £2 from Grab and as a bonus there is no pint of Singha.

    ^^^Proper posh nosh, Willy

Dinner today was a mysterious but healthy and tasty prawn in turmeric and chilli dish rustled up by an Indian lady from Fiji. I said I would do BBQ but she insisted on bringing dinner.

    Dinner-20251108_174848c-jpg

I protested half-heartedly before getting stuck in.

    Dinner-20251108_175017-jpg

Butcher birds made another welcome comeback and put on a show after their long absence

    Dinner-20251108_180452-0-jpg

I chipped in with the nosh by supplying dessert in the form of a sliced orange from my orchard (not really!)

    Dinner-20251108_192104-jpg

Time to dial up the ambience with some licking flames and some hot licks on the guitar. It was too hot for the fire earlier, being a 31c afternoon

    Dinner-20251108_202710-jpg

She then insisted on giving me a sensual foot massage using some hand cream for which I was most grateful

    Dinner-20251108_204324c-jpg

Flashes of lightning and peels of thunder were accompanied by gentle rain which brought out the forest aroma and awakened in Miss Fiji her natural animalistic instincts, and we celebrated our overflowing cup with proper dessert this time in the form of apple pie and cookies and cream flavour ice cream.

That is a curiously apposite humorous cross reference, Cyz since she actually did eat the orange peel, which I have never seen anyone do before.

She insisted that I also eat one. It was kind of bitter and marmaladey, but not that unpleasant, since the skins are quite thin, since they are actually mandarins.

Take one BBQ egg and one beef shin bone cut.

    Dinner-img_8724-jpeg

    Also known as Thor’s Hammer
    Dinner-img_8725-jpeg

Add a dry rub and place onto of some vegetables and red wine. place into smoker for about two hours.

    Dinner-img_8727-jpeg

Remove, wrap in foil, return to smoker
    Dinner-img_8728-jpeg

Remove from smoker and shred the beef. Next time I might try to let it cool a bit more. Dog got the bone. And a few scraps.

    Dinner-img_8729-jpeg

    Now make a ragu.

    Dinner-img_8730-jpeg

Assemble into a lasagna and cook for 40 mins.

    Dinner-img_8731-jpegDinner-img_8733-jpeg

Serve with salad and garlic bread.

The Kamondo Joe is a superb grilling/smoking rig. I'm honestly envious. If I had a place to put a grill where I live now, I'd be looking at something like that.

Was this your first time using it, how was it, give us a review of the "K-Joe", please.

My first time grilling on it was a half a salmon (The BBQing, Grillin, Smoking Mega Thread).

It's a great grill, holds temps real steady. In fact, it was raining half of yesterday (a small drizzle rain, nothing like in your neck of the woods) and that didnt matter to the grill.

^^^^^^^Quite a heroic effort for a Lasagne. I thought going to that much effort over meat would only be for eating it of the grill.

I was working at my rentals today and pinged Lilliputian Lao Lady and she said to come over when I finished. So I slinked in out of the torrential rain and watched her knocking up dinner after I had fixed up her laptop so it had picture and sound coming out of her TV. She had been in the middle of her YouTube Jane Fonda workout when I arrived but using her tiny laptop screen which was not so good as the TV.

    Dinner-20251110_205504-jpg

She used to own a restaurant in Canbera she tells me so I thought I might pick up some tips.

    Dinner-20251110_205517-jpg

The prawns were fried in garlic with oyster sauce and honey soy. The fried rice was pre-prepared and just needed nuking.

    Dinner-20251110_210038-jpg

Even so slapping this prawn feast together in about 10 minutes is my kind of cooking.

    Dinner-20251110_210714-jpg

I will defo have a crack at this some night.

Then we curled up on the sofa with a box of Ferrero Rocher to watch orange monkeys getting up to orange monkey business on the all-new big screen YouTube for digestiv

Yeah, not huge but big enough for some fish and some slow cooked beef shin. So far, so good. I also have three Qs so not limited by size on one of them, yet.
