Omg. How many folk are you feeding? Looks bloody nice
It's gonna be a bit of a cook of between you and mendy
I can’t find the thread now but I think hillbilly did a deep fried turkey one time that looked bloody good!
Myself and a few others, I think most of my coming holiday will be running around Phutthamonthon Park
Credit goes to ma and dad but I did help tasting everything to make sure it was just right, naturally
Marry Christmas everyone, all festive food looks delicious
^^^^That is a well glazed turkey Bones
This bird is gagging for it with legs agape and gash stuffed
Senorita had her eyes on the smoked ham with ham jam and sliced turkey
The sliced turkey was to make up for the bird actually being a humble chicken.
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir were in good voice for mealtime digestive entertainment
I had a crack at lighting the Christmas pud using Wild Turkey Bourbon liqueur but it was playing coy, and a tiny ghostly wisp of flame was all that could be mustered
It paired nicely with salted caramel ice cream
Senorita had brought her home made sticky rice with mango and sweetened coconut cream as a pudding backup
I had high expectations Boney, well done.
Our pork came out great and the red wine gravy was to die for.
And a pic of the whole spread
Abd my home made Finnish salty black liquorice vodka shots went down a treat.
AKA - Black Shit

Lang may yer lum reek...
In fact, good effort all round lads.
The Scandinavian seamen and oilies I used to drink with in Angeles were always getting me on the blackshit

Nice work BLD, Dirk, Bone's mom and Loopy.
Did some drunken sot get thread/forum banned for posting the below? I cant see the final result
Jesus Wept!!
Luckily KFC is open in Thailand at Xmas?
those scallops were $30 something for 16. = 4 each i had already spent a lot on the tiger prawns but for sure next time i will get 4 bags and have 16 each . wrap them in bacon this time. never thought of that at the time of cooking. ive created a monster now i do have 16 more but these ones are crumbed probably just as good
Sorry about that Shutree... I logged off early yesterday.
If you know what I mean.
I must admit that I did veer slightly off Jamie Oliver's roast chicken recipe, but who knew that a 3.5kg chicken wouldn't fit in a convection oven? A lesson learnt for next year!
I don't recall Jamie Oliver prescribing a half bottle of whisky to get through the day either, but he probably has a less stressful time than I.
But all in all, it turned out OK! The chicken was a bit tough but that just brought back memories of my mum's Christmas turkey roasts back in the day, so I had a trip down memory lane to boot.
Plated up. No Cranberry Sauce but I always have a few packets of tyttebær (lingonberries) in the fridge that I liberate from the Norwegian vessels I work on, so all good. And guess who was sitting to my left... yeah, how could you possibly have a single meal without rice and chilli sauce?
A meal for eating, not for looking at!
The Christmas meal took several hours of preparation, on me tod until around midday when the rest of the family finally deigned to get out of bed and join me, and it was pretty damn good.
But of course, all the daughter mentions today is why I was wearing a pair of her new Christmas knickers on me head instead of a Santa hat?
They only remember the shortcomings and it really pisses me off.
It must have pissed me off yesterday as well, because my phone tells me that I had my nightcap with Anna!
Anna doesn't care what I wear on my head. Love is blind with dogs.
Anyway, I obviously recovered later on and prepared my signature Christmas pudding of mango and blackberry crumble with home made custard.
Fusion cooking at it's very best, hey Reg?
Of this I will accept no criticism!

done a fantastic job mate, it all looks delicious. i went with the easy option of seafood. less cooking
this is all the prawns that remain and they are all for me. they are cooked already so just in the pan with butter garlic and cream and a bit of rice voila

i usually just bin the prawn heads and shells or she eats the heads { yuk} but today i saw i reel instructing me to use them for stock, looked simple enough so i will give it a go maybe make a seafood bisque

Looks like you pulled it off Mendy. Well done.
^^ My wife sucks out the heads. The chickens love the rest.
Thank you Nid, and I'm assuming that wasn't a double entendre because I think more of you.
Although yeah, sadly enough.
I always become a bit melancholy over Christmas in Thailand... for Westerners it is special but in Asia it will never be the same. As a kid I remember sleepless Christmas Eves awaiting Santa... all of us kids crammed in one bedroom because the Grandparents were staying.
Now I just get pissed up on whisky and want to get back to normal so I can start working again.
