Fucking love those Frey bentos pies, what a great concept,a pie in a can , used to buy them in bulk back in the day when I was workin out in bumfuck Western Australia, just throw the tin in the coals of the fire drink a dozen cans of emu export and hey presto. Dinner is served, they are even available in the minimart here in Lao happy days indeed, these days I put them in the oven though. A dozen cans of beerlao and it's done. Just gotta remember to turn of the fookin oven or her indoors cracks the shits

tbh, it was awful, sprouts were rock hard and I burned the carrots and friggin lamb.
The sauce is just bisto onion gravy:) and the green stuff is well u should be able to guess that.
The spuds were nice though.
Laters, I'm off out to a Bistro
MrsDilly has done a good job there.
(Too much gravy, but I suspect that was Dilly's doing...)
Bamboo shoot soup. From field to table.
1. Find some bamboo shoots

2. Dig up/cut out some bamboo shoot.

3. Go home, peel the bamboo, cut it up and put it in a pan of water.

4. Head off to Tesco Lotus to buy some pork ribs

5. Fire the gas up, add a few more secret ingredients, wave your magic wand and wait for the magic to happen.

6. Eat and enjoy. :)
Nowt wrong with that when you've got some flesh involved too.
I've always enjoyed bamboo shoot curries, salads and soups in SE Asia; the khao gaeng breakfast option is always a favourite of mine.
Fresh, tasty and not too much of a tryhard in those pics. Thumbs up.
Hmm, bamboo needs to be cooked for at least 2 hours, otherwise it's poisonous, or so the missus insists.
It was cooked for a long time. I'm not so sure it was as long as two hours but it was definitely more than an hour.
But if I never post again after today, you can remember me as the guy who probably died of bamboo shoot poisoning. :)
They were the days. Thanks for the mammories mate. Can't beat a bit of nor mai.Quote:

I'll try and replicate it with my UK home grown and post it up.
No nam poo, Mrs. Nev is obviously not from the North.
