Sunday morning bacon the way I like it, cooked in the Airfryer and you couldn't believe how much oil ends up in the bottom of the basket. Or maybe you can

That’s why I fry the bacon first. No oil required.

Crumpets. No recipe followed, my Mrs just went for it.

Mix your shit together and leave for 25mins, not 15mins.

We didn’t have any baking rings or cutters etc so I cut the base out of a foil pie tin to improvise.

baked on the frying pan until formed.

There’s nothing to it. Just ignore the waiting time for the yeast to activate and make sure it’s nice n bubbly before you pour it.

I’m pretty sure it’s climate related, but following western recipes over here has one flaw, timings and temperatures often need to be adjusted. Unless you have a magic touch, like my mrs, it’s pretty much trial and error.

And it’s always good to have luck on your side.

These quarantine breakfasts still aren't up to much but so long as I get a negative PCR test result at 8am it matters not.

For my first day of freedom I fancy some black pudding... so I'll go in search of a proper Thai breakfast a little bit later.

    But in the meantime...

^To be fair that doesn't look too bad! There was of course lots of pics of quarantine hotel food kicking around in the last year or two and not much of it looked as appealing as that.

^^^ Yeah HW, I've had a lot worse. The strange thing is they still gave me plastic cutlery with no knife to eat it with, but Turkish Airlines took care of that.

After six weeks of boat breakfasts I fancy spoiling myself today... but if I get a positive PCR result I guess I'll be digging the remains of my 'scrambled eggs' out of the bin!

It'll come as no surprise that PAG's home-made crumpets look better than store bought Warburton's. Still tasty though with lashings of butter and honey

^^ Did a Thai toast those? I doubt you'll find better homemade than those though.

I reckon you've even outdone Charleyboy

Not toasted yet, after the crumpet has 'set' and the bubbles stopped popping, you remove from the molds and put them top down in the pan to get some colour. Apparently, if you fridge them overnight, they become more spongy and better. We'll see tomorrow.

^ What do the bottoms of them look like? Are they all brown and hardened like Warbies and able to hold 200ml of syrup?

Yup, and will get harder when they're toasted tomorrow.
