The parents of two Myanmar men suspected of killing two British tourists on Koh Tao arrived in Bangkok on Wednesday to visit their sons.
The controversial case took and extra twist when Zaw Lin and Win Zaw Htu recanted their confessions to police and lodged their retractions with public prosecutors through the Lawyers Council of Thailand.
Their parents arrived at Don Mueang airport on Nok Air flight DD4231 from Yangon about 10am Wednesday. A Myanmar embassy representative and a lawyer for the two men met them at the airport and took them to the embassy.
They planned to travel to Koh Samui in Surat Thani province to visit their sons, who are being held at the Koh Samui prison, but the timing has not been revealed.
On seeing reporters at the airport, the parents burst into tears and said they wanted to see their sons and their living conditions and ''seek justice'' from the Thai courts.

Thank you to everyone for helping us reach 100k signatures
Because of your tireless efforts in demanding justice for David and Hannah, our petition has reached over 100,000 signatures and was personally handed in to the Prime Minister’s office at 10 Downing street on Friday.
As a result, Prime Minister David Cameron has pushed the issue personally with the Thai Prime Minister and has reached an agreement to let a team from the UK into Thailand to probe the investigation of these murders
As of now, we have contacted the Downing St liaison office and are still waiting on confirmation and clarification of what exactly this investigation entails as since Mr Cameron spoke with the Thai PM, there have now been reports in the Thai media of him playing down his promise since his return to Thailand. The Thai chief of police seems to be echoing this dismissal of help as well . We promise to update you all as soon as we have more information about what exactly all of these developments mean
I would also like to thank those that have been messaging me in private and helping to organize our protests and interactions with the media, Especially Melissa-Jane Frost, a PR and Social media expert, and Sandy Thin Mar Oo, A Burmese/Myanmar human rights activist as well as some others that wish to remain anonymous. Without all of their hard work none of the success we have had with this campaign would’ve been possible.
Until we can confirm that the UK police will be able to conduct and assist in the investigation, and not merely be paraded around as “observers” , we ask you all to please keep spreading our petition and for those of you in the UK to put pressure on your members of parliament to take up our cause in the House of Commons.

It means Thai authorities aren't about to let a real police force show them up.Originally Posted by Change.org
Well it seems they are going to get a lesson in Thai Two Faces. NO doubt Prattles will have said whatever he thought The UK PM wanted to hear.Until we can confirm that the UK police will be able to conduct and assist in the investigation, and not merely be paraded around as “observers” , we ask you all to please keep spreading our petition and for those of you in the UK to put pressure on your members of parliament to take up our cause in the House of Commons.

Time to reorganize as a boycott- get the UN to start in on the slavery issues- and somehow stop men from wanting pussy, because as long as Twatland is whore to the world..not much chance of getting it to behave like a lady - too much demand.
They just won't be able to handle it, will they.Originally Posted by YOrlov

So when are these British police arriving ?
it was last friday that it was agreed .
Anyone seen the pictures? Horrific.. gonna haunt me for a few days now..
There's definitely something unique about the Thai /SE Asian psyche that makes these brutal outbursts so easy with lack of forethought.
They're not Negroes.. they're not genetically dis-positioned to violence and lack of self control.
Sounds very, very, plausible. Except for, were the victims really an item? The more I think about it, the more it's likely the Burmese *might* have been forced into some sort of minor role (helping to clear evidence, lifting the bodies, etc.)
Why won't any of their friends speak up about the bar argument?
^
but wasnt the cause of death for the man, partly due to drowning ?
According to the BIB - sorry I don't believe one word these scummy, lying, uniformed crooks spout.
If that were indeed true, then perhaps the guy was still alive when brought back onto the beach and was then either held under the water, or the tide did him in as he was lying on the beach.
I'd like to think that the UK authorities are amongst the best in the world at spotting the sell by date on a pork pie![]()
^I like that post, Neo...
As with all police forces they have there own agenda.
Why not call up the copper in Koh Tao and ask a few questions?
Public prosecutors unfazed by retraction of confession in British tourists’ killing
BANGKOK, 23 October 2014 (NNT) - Public prosecutors are not worried that the suspects accused of killing two British tourists have retracted their earlier confession to the crime.
Regional Public Prosecution 8 deputy director-general Thawatchai Siangjaew said that the retraction of the confession by two Myanmar migrants who have been accused of killing the two Britons on the popular island of Koh Tao will not impact the case compilation and the prosecution because public prosecutors have been focusing on evidence and witnesses, not the confession.
Mr. Thawatchai added that, in this case, forensic evidence and reports from the medical examiners will be the most crucial elements in the filing of the case with the court.
He went on to say that after investigators have been instructed to conduct more probes, it remains unknown when the case will be complete and ready for filing.
When asked about international concerns over the investigation, Mr. Thawatchai said that Thai police will be able to answer every doubt raised but no outside authorities can send their people to work on this case as Thai laws do not permit such a scenario.

If the case was that iron clad, surely it would be ready by now? DNA from SPERM found in body of deceased. Open and shut case. Guess they are trying to find a way for the DNA to not be important.Originally Posted by misskit
Would of thought the basis of confessions would be a closed case, right they retracted there confessions.![]()
David Cameron's brief statement yesterday (22 October) during Prime Minister's Question Time in the House of Commons (24:40 into the video). UK providing 'technical assistance' to Thai investigation.
Point really to note is that open questions will continue to be raised in the UK, and whilst there's obviously no way that UK police can be directly involved in the case, their eventual report will be made public, and potentially direct questions will be made in Parliament which must be responded to.
I think it is pretty well accepted by everyone this is a political prosecution and not one based upon evidence acceptable to anyone other than perhaps a coirt of the Spanish Inquisition.
The pantomime that is Thai justice will probably play according to the traditional scripts so favoured by them although there may yet be a surprise ending.
The British element is developing and this is rather unusual for the Thai who are not used to their silliness being questioned by Prime Ministers of real governments. The British police will report their findings, the substance of which will be debated in parliament. If, as we suspect, the police report will conclude that the prosecution is mounted on deeply flawed evidence etc then the government will consider the next stage.
The fact that the prosecutors have referred the papers back to the cops is either indicative of dissatisfaction or simply a means of filling holes in the case so that it will fly better on the day.
Interesting scenario unfolding and not one the Thai will relish too much. British folk do tend to get quite sentimental about justice and this current junta is still politically naive.
Die - Land could be the new homophone.
