Of course, it was provoked. Otherwise, they wouldn’t refer to it all the time as an unprovoked invasion. By now, censorship in the United States has reached such a level beyond anything in my lifetime. Such a level that you are not permitted to read the Russian position. Literally. Americans are not allowed to know what the Russians are saying. Except, selected things. So, if Putin makes a speech to Russians with all kinds of outlandish claims about Peter the Great and so on, then, you see it on the front pages. If the Russians make an offer for a negotiation, you can’t find it. That’s suppressed. You’re not allowed to know what they are saying. I have never seen a level of censorship like this.”

The reason they have to refer to it as an unprovoked invasion is to counter the torrent of bullshit coming out of russian bot farms, and parroted by idiots like you, that it was provoked.

It also goes to show how fucking irrelevant and anti-seppo Chomsky is these days.

    how fucking irrelevant and anti-seppo
is Jack Matlock these days? US Ambassador to the Soviet Union 1987-1991, and subsequently George F. Keenan Professor in Foreign relations at Princeton University-

"Can the crisis be resolved by the application of common sense? Yes, after all, what Putin is demanding is eminently reasonable. He is not demanding the exit of any NATO member and he is threatening none. By any common sense standard it is in the interest of the United States to promote peace, not conflict. To try to detach Ukraine from Russian influence — the avowed aim of those who agitated for the “color revolutions” — was a fool’s errand, and a dangerous one. Have we so soon forgotten the lesson of the Cuban Missile Crisis?"

"An avoidable crisis that was predictable, actually predicted, willfully precipitated, but easily resolved by the application of common sense."
    Jack Matlock Jr.

You utter imbecile. Every diplomatic avenue was attempted during the months leading up to the war, it is well documented in the Wapo article. During that period, you falsely claimed this war would never happen and that US intelligence was lying. You were made a fool of then, and you are still making a fool of yourself now by pushing this debunked false narrative.

The truth you refuse to acknowedge...

During Lavrov’s nearly 18 years as Russia’s foreign minister, a succession of American diplomats had found him blunt and doctrinaire, but occasionally frank and realistic about relations between their two countries. After again going over the Ukraine situation, Blinken stopped and asked, “Sergei, tell me what it is you’re really trying to do?” Was this all really about the security concerns Russia had raised again and again — about NATO’s “encroachment” toward Russia and a perceived military threat? Or was it about Putin’s almost theological belief that Ukraine was and always had been an integral part of Mother Russia?

Without answering, Lavrov opened the door and walked away, his staff trailing behind.

It was the last time top national security officials of Russia and the United States would meet in person before the invasion.

Suggest you do a practise run calling Professor Jack Matlock, retired Ambassador, that bonehead- before attempting it with the venerable Chomsky. You're sure to get a laugh.

It was moved from the News thread, but the astonishing "News" that soldiers in a war zone trade some of their rations for drugs wasn't. Go figure. It certainly opens up my ambit as to what is permissible to plonk in the News thread.

    Don’t.

This is news. I guess you can read it in Australia. I could read it in America as well as here in Thailand. Though I guess it isn’t conspiracy oriented enough for you these days.

    .

You keep reposting your dated crap opinion pieces. The Wapo piece is excellent, definitive and thorough in its documenting of the extensive diplomacy that took place. Your false narrative has been debunked and put in the trash can where it belongs.

Well it's really quite simple- I did not write those articles. I copied and pasted them here. Any idiot can do that, you being an obvious example. So like I have repeatedly stated bonehead, if you want to call the likes of Chomsky, Matlock, Kissinger, Mearsheimer and so on "idiots" and "morons", be my guest. The laugh is on you.

You are just looking more and more stupid with every post, especially when the Wapo article totally debunks and kills off the idiotic false narrative you are trying to cling to. Every diplomatic means was tried for months to prevent the war. The US, the Europeans and the Brits all tried exhaustively for months to try and stop this war that they knew Putin was intent on starting. From the article...

The WaPo opinion piece, which was exquisitely crafted and obviously done in collaboration, proves one thing to us cynics- the US government knows full well it fucked up. It is furiously trying to recraft the script to it's own advantage. Much like, as Chomsky points out, the gratuitous repetition of the meme "unprovoked invasion" demonstrates full well that they know full well it was provoked.

Anyway, the obvious critique is here (sorry to repeat)-

    https://teakdoor.com/redirect-to/?re...rs-stumbled%2F

The WaPo article conveniently skirts around the manifest US diplomatic failures. This has cost the World, and your allies in particular, dearly. The Realist school of foreign policy has been pointing out the dangers of the appalling neocons for several years now. Need I elaborate?

Chomsky praises Trump: A statesman "of quality"

A tweet by journalist Glenn Greenwald, who shared an excerpt of the video, drew controversy. Some users doubt Chomsky's sanity. The alleged change of heart of the intellectual and former Trump opponent causes astonishment.

Guess he lost his marbles like Sabang. Or can anyone explain these childish Sabangs posts?

Only a complete and utter moron would draw that conclusion. The article confirms without a doubt that the US, British and Europeans did everything they could possibly do within reason to keep Putin from invading Ukraine. At the end of the day, there was nothing they could have done to stop it.

But you go right on and keep embarrassing yourself with your false narrative. You have gotten everything else about this conflict wrong, so why change now.

The WaPo piece is an Editorial- an opinion piece. Believe it or don't- but this is the track record of US foreign policy as it exists in the current century-

    Iraq
    Afghanistan
    Syria
    Libya
    Ukraine

One hardly needs to elaborate. It is a shameful, despicable track record. The whole World can see.

We had plenty of free opinions, threads and etc. about how the U.S. has fuc*ked up.

Maybe you can start a thread on how Russia never copes with its past. Stalin has now become a hero.

On second thought I think that would be to complicated for you. You can not even comprehend Putler and his Nazis.

Blah Blah Blah, you are a fucking broken record with basically nothing to contribute. You are a simpleminded puppet who constantly parrots the same shit over and over again because you have to stick to your shit, debunked fake narrative.
