A Russian TV pundit has raged against Ukraine and called for the bombing of the capital city of Kyiv following the sinking of the Russian missile cruiser Moskva in the Black Sea.

Vladimir Bortko, a filmmaker and former member of the Russian State Duma, said on state TV on Thursday that the Russian "motherland" had been attacked after Ukraine said it had hit the ship with missiles.

"We should bomb Kyiv," said Bortko at one point in an exchange with the TV host.

Russian forces have intercepted two Tochka-U missiles fired by the Ukrainian military at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant, Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said on Friday.

“At about 07:00 a.m Moscow time [04:00 GMT a.m.], a unit of the Ukrainian 19th separate missile brigade attacked the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant with two Tochka-U tactical missiles. The destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant after an explosion was supposed to … cause the flooding of many localities in the Kherson region … and the aim was to limit the actions of the Russian armed forces. Both missiles were shot down in the air by Russian air defense systems,” Konashenkov told a briefing.

The ministry also said that fragments of one of the missiles fell on a village in the Kherson region and damaged residential buildings. One woman and one child were hurt during the incident, Konashenkov added."

Aggressors going all in to seize Mariupol – hostilities getting fiercer

In Mariupol, highly intense firefights are underway as the Russians are throwing in more forces to storm the city, using weapons of mass destruction.
That’s according to Petro Andriushchenko, the advisor to the city mayor, Ukrinform reports.


"Mariupol. Dy 52 of heroic resistance. As for now: hostilities are becoming fiercer. The occupiers are throwing all forces in, storming the city. The appearance of TU bombers speaks of the intention to launch an assault on the Azovstal stronghold and the sea port after dropping high-yield bombs such as FAB-3000 and others," Andriushchenko wrote.


All of this proves that the Russians are unable to seize control of the city without resorting to higher-level inhumanity and using weapons of mass destruction.


Russia's aggression in Mariupol has reportedly caused one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes. The invaders have been bombarding unarmed civilains and blocking humanitarian aid from coming in.


The mayor of Mariupol previously said that since the beginning of the Russian invasion, up to 20,000 civilians are believed to have been killed in the city alone. According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry, the Russians have deployed as many as 13 mobile crematoria to incinerate the bodies of slain residents. Also, the invaders have scrambled to identify and kill all potential witnesses to the atrocities already committed in the area.


About 120,000 civilians remain in the besieged Mariupol. Many are believed to have been forcibly removed from the city and transported to Russia and the occupied areas of Donbas.
