I can’t quite break the 30min 5k even if I did that first. I think 35 is my best.
the cycle is the easiest part for me, but I’ll be doing it in a MTB.
Glad it’s the swim first, I can swim but 8 lengths at speed is where I’m going to focus my training.
Lang may yer lum reek...
A bit racist there assuming my sambas are black, Bogon!
My mate wants to train me for the whole thing. The guy’s spends his weekends in iron man podiums. Fully committed to his cause. I’m not quite ready to be that boring and depressed but if I can get my ass up at 4am maybe I’ll give it a go.
The running track here is a bit mochy dump after all the rain, but I’ve managed to find a bleep test app for my Garmin watch so I just need to mark out a 20m stretch somewhere flat and dry and I’m good to go.

The weather is too shit for outdoor exercise so I bought a skipping rope for my room. Weights and pushups on work time.
First day's a killer.
Aiming for 1000 in 15 mins tomorrow, target for 10 mins by end of the week.

^ Good man.
A schneaky lil 30 minute sesh of weighted ab crunches x 100, pullups x 10, 6 sets, each set starts on the 5th minute.
Lovely wee afternoon buzz.
I overdone it.
Last 2 days I've been hobbling around like Kevin Bacon in Murder in the First.
^ Been there.
But not today.
Haven't cycled since moving to the villa 4+ months ago.
The 2 shops near here are severely suffering through the great egg shortage of 2023, and wanting some omelettes over the weekend I borrowed the neighbour's mountain bike and went scouting.
I believe it was officially the world's slowest bike ride. But happily surprised with the data.
Only 20kph average with some stops, instead of the normal 27kph-ish.
But the calorie numbers are very nice (if somewhat true.) as is the 147bpm avg heart rate.
As for the eggs.
I arrived home like one of Tomcat's dates.
Empty handed with a sore arse.
Double-Sesh Fri-Yay.
Lunchtime 100 x abs and 10 x pullups, x 6.
Inspired by a day of Lego'ing I finally got round to putting the bikes back together.
Edith got home and bunged a Lasagna in the oven and we went out for a 25km 1 hour ride.
Lovely Jubbly Guv.
1 hour heart rate of 170bpm.![]()
Monster 8 set sesh before out for lunch.
90 seconds gay star-jumps at the request of Edith.
Tricep pull downs.
Weighted Ab crunches
Pecs - benchpresses
x 8
Oh yes, feel the burn, feel the buzz.![]()
Medium 6 set sesh of star jumps, biceps, ab crunches, traps, and lat pull downs before we cooked dinner. Feels fantastic.![]()
I’ve been busy training for my mini triathlon.
Yesterday’s effort:
Swim, bike, run.
The swim gassed me yesterday but I’ve been informed I can swim backstroke if I like so I plan to take a good chunk off my swimming time. I used to compete backstroke.
If you crash into the guy doing massive splashy backwards windmills you’ve really only got yourself to blame.
Cheers. Just wanted something to work with as I’m only trying to beat myself.
Rest day and Golf today.
^ Good man.
A glorious, flowing 40km-er before lunch.
@49% threshold.![]()
It's starting to look like I'm doing this event in fancy dress to raise money for poor kids.
Suddenly, everyone around me just needs to try and beat the batman.
^ You've shirley gotta go as Scottish Dil.

Was supposed to do 6 sets, but couldn't stop and pushed out 7.
The new health hydration regime is just amazing.
2 mins star jumps
weighted ab crunches
shoulder presses - delts
bench presses - pecs
tricep dips - triceps
x7
Got a buzz alert during set 6 for 170bpm heartrate
Great sesh.
More of a 40 minute cool-off than a workout after a 41km bike ride yesterday, had the pool to myself -open 1-8pm and swim classes start 3pm; missed out last week as the government school had booked sports each afternoon Tues-Fri; local fee-paying Catholic school has its own covered pool.
Tuesday five firemen were there, presume being paid to keep fit; firestation is about 300m away but noted they'd all rode motorbikes to get there.

My training is coming along.
Swim, MTB, Run/walk this morning.

That is pretty cool, Dirk. Good stuff! I'd love to do something like that, but the running part not too fond of.
Looks like everyone has been hard at work, Go Edmond!
I just got back from a 15 km bike ride, which is lite for me, A few days ago did 25 kms.
Bad pic but, what the hell.

Yesterday I was informed that my bib number for the race is 118.
Oh how I have tried to get a costume but none of them will arrive in time for the 6th August.
Found one on ebay, says 2nd August at the latest.
Got your number!

^Nice, I'm jealous, I was just telling my friend I miss doing Muay Thai in Thailand, maybe Christmas. What camp are you going to?
