On teusday I put my hilux in for its service. It gets one every 15000kms or is supposed to this one was about 3000kms over and I knew that the front brakes needed doing despite this they never got done because they said not enough time to get the parts before new year that sounded like bullshit but anyway it goes back in a weeks time. More inconvenience for me and customers
But today ( new years day)the engine warning light came on. Oh oh not good I'm.thinking
.so back it goes in the morning and hopefully they can take a gander asap . Gotta take that shit seriously I suppose

    Standard engine warning light.

A mechanic with an ECU reader can pull up the warning code and get the specific diagnosis.

500thb here. No idea back in Oz.

For me, every time one of those warning lights came on the fix was to replace the sensor. There are many senors now, so only the official dealer can charge you for telling you which one and replacing of their shitty sensor.

    Okay dokey
It's of the the workshop and hopefully its just a matter of them hooking it up to the diagnostic machine. I'm an old crunt and back in the day cars were so much easier to work on yourself. It's probably a wee sensor that will help stop climate change but will sting me in the wallett badly. But I remain optimistic.

Could be any number of reasons and you need to get the error decoded to find out.

It'll only be expensive if you don't bother sorting it out now.

Disconnect the battery for 10 minutes then reconnect it. See if it comes back on or stays off.

You can order a ELM327 OBD II plug in and the install the Torque App to your phone and it will show you the error code. You can also clear it once you know what it is. The "Stealer" charges you more to plug their tool and diagnose versus the cost of the ELM 327 and app plus now you have the tool and it works on every vehicle.

Thanks for the info stumpy. My go to.mechanic put it straight in this morning and it turned out it was the fuel sensor likely caused by a full tank and a 40 degree day next time I will simply undo the fuel cap
Let all that air out. Pretty happy I didn't have to put my hand in my pocket

^^. Pretty common issue with the gas cap. Many have any issue when they didn't tighten it until it clicks a few times. Lots of sensors on new cars, most checking for evap etc. Glad it is all sorted BLD.

All new cars sold in the European Union from 7 July 2024 must have Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) speed limiter tech fitted by law. This means manufacturers will be forced to update any cars launched prior to July 2022, the date when ISA systems were first mandated for newly introduced models.
While the EU rule has no legal force in the UK, manufacturers selling cars across the continent have shown no sign of wanting to provide ISA-free variants for UK buyers since that law on new model introductions was introduced two years ago.

It uses cameras that recognise speed limit signs, as well as data from GPS and sat-nav systems, to determine the speed limit on any given stretch of road. If the car breaks that limit, a beep or other warning - such as a ‘haptic’ vibration through the steering wheel or accelerator pedal - will alert the driver to the transgression. If a driver doesn’t respond to override the system by braking - or indeed accelerating should circumstances demand it - then the car will slowly reduce power and automatically slow to the limit.

While speed merchants and careless drivers will not be automatically reined back by their cars just yet, the ISA systems could be a step towards implementation of fully automated speed controls. We recently reported on a speed limit ‘geofencing’ project being explored by Ford in Cologne, which prevents drivers from speeding in prescribed geographical areas, and speed control is also a key component of expected advances in autonomous or self-driving technology.
Not long to go until having fun is illegal in the EU.

Are you supposed to tighten it that much?
