I guess I'm starting to see how Trump got in.
Is the American sense of being and humour so literal and basic? Even Edmond understood...
Yesterday my daughter witnessed her father have a bout of road rage when a motorcyclist pulled out without looking... yeah, I know, I should know better...
After my profanity, there followed a lengthy discussion as to why it wasn't big or clever to swear at these retards and that she should not follow my example... (because as Stumpy so aptly points out, it will surely lead to ruin).
I left a message on her swanky new whiteboard (yes, we got a family pack) for her to wake up to, and reinforce my lesson... and yes, I may have included the same profanity in my message in a humourous way - well, humourous as in an east of the pond way (shock, horror, can a 13-year-old brain handle words like 'dickhead' in this context...)
Before she left for school today she obviously must have responded with her message on my whiteboard, mimicking my road rage with the finger pointed at the motorcyclist (well spotted Edmond, and you won't get many compliments from me), but also sowing the seed of doubt that she could have been calling her father a 'dickhead'.
I can't believe I have to explain this, but I wasn't proud about her spelling or artwork, but that she has developed a sense of humour far beyond her 13 years. I have devoted a lot of time to teach her the art of sarcasm and sardonic humour, and I think she's getting it.
You may not buy it Stumpy, but as you must well know, the art of an insult is to leave some doubt in the mind as to whether you have actually been insulted or not? My daughter did that masterfully today to my mind. But thanks for pointing out my parenting errors, and I mean that. There is no rule book, each to their own.
Anyway, I'm off to pick up the daughter from the police station. I just hope she hasn't been mainlining again.
I don't. If it were a couple of guys at a bar talking shit..OK. A 13 year old daughter?
But again. You guys try to divide humor and values. You think you guys are just gut splitting hilarious but... well. Typicallly humor is something enjoyed in person and not on a forum as its something you have to enjoy in the moment unless of course its Dil's photo shop stuff.
Anyway Mendy, you do what you do. I simply didn't agree with what you found humorous. Doesn't mean I don't laugh alot. We just laugh at different things.
Carry on
To be honest mate, you're the only one doing that. And you just won't let it go.
No 'values' were questioned here, apart from in your completely misunderstanding, sanctimonious, American mind.
This was harmless 'humor' within a family, which I found found funny and thought was nice to share.
I won't won't make that mistake again of course, ... why not go and tighten up a few bolts and report the torque?
^ yup.
Fuck Mendo!!
Stump, Willy and Ed United. *Fists in the air*
I think what we have here is a failure to communicate.....USA vs Brits.
British and American culture and humour have some overlap, but in some other ways they clash. That which is normal and acceptable in one offends the other...sometimes viscerally.
What is done casually in one, is regarded as low class, vulgar and crass in the other.
Here's a good example : watch Peter Sellers in any Pink Panther movie, then watch Steve Martin's remake. Although I have found Steve quite funny (particularly as Ruprecht and others in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels),
the Pink Panther remake didn't make me laugh once, and I eventually turned it off, flabbergasted at the lack of humour.
I once read that Arabs like to stand very close to each other when they chat, and we all know how reserved British people are in this regard. The upshot is that Brits think Arabs are really pushy, and Arabs think the Brits
are really stand-offish. And they rarely see it as a cultural difference; instead they take it personally.

Stumpy will have to start wearing pants with elasticated bottoms. There is a lot of sand getting into his vagina driving around dirt roads on that ATV
