Dip the magnet in glue.
Was in Dubai airport and a message popped up on my phone.
Ignored it until airport staff started shooing everyone out of lounges, shops and plane gates and we all had to troop 3 or4 floors down to the basement to hang out.
then after about 20 or30 minutes we got the all clear
And normal operations resumed.
^ Stay safe!
And I see no reason why mere missile attacks should prevent a bit of spoon collecting.
^ Nice glass...?
I have lots of Economy Emirates spoons...
^ Willy and Mendip.
Del Boy and Rodney?
My landlord raised the price of electricity by 1 peso.
me too
My cheapo plastic body 2999 espresso of Shopee years ago still works fine, but I never used teh frother which some like, doppio espresso for me
Of course for pro level need to pay nearer 20k.
Mskit they often have them in that place we first met or plenty online. Verasu , Shopee Lazada etc for cheapies.
My wife has just informed me that tonight at 8:30pm there will be a one hour long, world-wide power cut to save energy.
I said, 'what... the whole world, are you sure?'
And she assures me this is so.
I've got to say that I'm pretty fukking dubious about it, but didn't pursue the matter.
Apparently all of her Facebook friends know all about it and are making preparations.
It's going to get pretty hot in the bedroom tonight when all the fans go off...![]()
A whole hour without FB, what will they do?
It might be your lucky night Mendip...
^^ I can find no evidence for that. Maybe she means this:
Lights out: Bangkok power cuts to hit Sukhumvit, Charan today | Thaiger
Yes, mine said the same.
However it is a slight misunderstanding. My research shows the following
Thailand is taking part in a worldwide Earth Hour from 8:30 - 9:30 pm.
The idea is to use less eletricity worldwide.
It is voluntary. There will be no power outage.
The government would like the population to conserve electricity where possible for this one coordinated hour by switching off non essential electric items.

“The ultimate moral test of any government is the way it treats three groups of its citizens. First, those in the dawn of life — our children. Second, those in the shadows of life — our needy, our sick, our handicapped. Third, those in the twilight of life — our elderly.”
Hubert Humphrey American VP 1965/9.
Oh. Earth Hour is not to be confused with Earth Day which will take place on April 22
^^^ This sounds more believable.
If I'm still awake, I may just sneakily get up and turn off the electricity at the fusebox to save myself an hour of aircon use.
^^ I'm quite happy for her to believe this stuff, it's kind of quaint.
Things have kind of backfired on that front.
The wife was complaining that the aircon remotes never work... so she went out and bought three brand new ones.
Yeah... guess who paid...
A real Daily Moan.
![]()
We have exactly the same remotes, and one works for all three a/cs.
So buying three is just willful extravagance.
Calculate how much you have saved in the past against how much you are going to spend in the future on A/C to cheer yourself up![]()
^ I put up with a lot.
Speaking of which, if I can please be allowed a second Daily Moan...
After a very busy day it appears that I'll be eating separately from the wife to night...
I mean... FFS... the next pandemic could start right here in my 'kitchen'.
And people may wonder why I prefer to sleep alone (well... with Maya and Molly... they kill vermin but at least don't eat 'em)
(I found a frozen portion of chicken and leek pie in the freezer!)
