Is it secure or do I need a MFA to access a shovel to dig it up...

I am about there MK. My Grandma did it for years. Put cash in Thermos's and drew up a map where they were buried. Seriously. We dug them all up when she passed away. My uncle had to buy a metal detector as we were not sure her map was current. HAHAHA

I also feel your pain - I hate these processes, and often the AI they use is so dumb.

Recently got a new phone, and updating bank account apps, remembering passwords for emails, etc is painful, never mind dealing with O2 whose website is always crashing.

Yesterday, I tried to sigh into my Yahoo email, and was met with the message to check me email (yes, the same yahoo email account that I was trying to sign into) because they sent me a passcode that I needed to enter before I could sign into my email... How does that work then???
    Cycling should be banned!!!

It isn’t as though I didn’t tell the banker that my plans were to retire in Thailand. My saving grace is a permanent address in the US.

^I expect at any time to have to fly to the US to do banking.
Same here MK. I have a permanent address in The US. My Dads place. Been using it for 15 years or so. My bank knew I lived and worked outside the US but I always said. "I am on assignment for our corporate office located here in California" which seemed to work.

I fully expect to have to return as well to get this stock acct situation rectified as well as my IRA. I have kept the US accts because at some point I want my SS, IRA and stock distributions to go there. I do not want move it here.

Withdrew some cash, I had to sign on a screen and it looked nothing like my signature but no problem. Then update my address, sign on a screen again, no problem. It turns out they had sent a new card to my old address (the one for which they had no record) so that needed to be reported lost. Sign on a screen. Then apply for a new card, which is a separate process. Sign on a screen again.
Return to Thailand, turn on mobile. My first call is from the chap at HSBC, the last signature on a screen wasn't accepted by their AI, the only way forward is to return to the branch, in HK. WTF! I spent over an hour sitting in front of you with all my ID and you cannot approve it? No. Computer says 'No.'
Man I feel ya Shutree. It is such a pain in the ass. Again they want you to bank online to eliminate offices and staff but they have to make this easier and quit changing shit. When I call where my IRA is housed they see the number and I get the 3rd degree on the information required because it looks like a scam number to them. I am considering flying back and getting all my accts moved under my oldest daughters name and she can send me money when I might needed it.

6 months ago I had to transfer all my savings from my Wells Fargo account as I no longer live in the states. Simply sent it via Velle to my daughters account with the same bank. Going back this summer to get all my money out as I am sure they will soon not even allow Fixed Deposit Time accounts soon, so far they have not hassled me about those. Stupid of me to even keep them. The wife is a financial planner so give her the bucks and get a hell of a lot more interest than the paltry sum I am getting now.

When are you moving to Pattaya. There is surely a spot for you to teach and remain on the lowdown.

I think he meant 'on the down-low'.

He can't even get the 'street talk' he heard on 'The Sweeney' right, the silly old queen.

Even for a boomer, this is a legitimate point. The same happened to me recently with my BMO Investorline account. They recently introduced a 4 digit pin. So now I have my passwords and this new 4 digit pin. I guess the theory is, the pin is easier and less hassle. So we went from 6 digit basic passwords to 8 digit passwords with upper and lower case , numbers and special characters. And now we are back to basic 4 digit passwords. But its called a pin. And it only works sometimes.
