Day 1 - Make an appointment and come back.

Day 2 - Including all the shit you forgot to bring on day 1. Get 30 day stamp, from this day, not from the day current visa expires.

Day 6 - Go offshore for 28 days, passport required.

Day 10 - Send passport back to the beach with crew change

Day XX - Immigration comes to the house to check I'm genuinely living at this address under legitimately married with family conditions. I'm not there.

Day 30 - Wife takes passport to immigration, 11 month stamp inserted. Multiple entry stamp purchased.

Day 34 - Blag a seat on the chopper with driving license.

    Day 35 - Consider 10 month separation.
    Lang may yer lum reek...

    Can't be arsed listing, tbh.

It's two copies of lots of stuff, all signed

The main problem is that the number of applicants is beyond what anyone ever anticipated.

And the process itself just gets more byzantine every year.

With the benefit of hindsight, lampang and lampun are better bets as places to reside, just because of this.

There were over 200 applicants under the tent outside this morning when we arrived - at 8:20.

Upon leaving three hours later, pizza, caeser salad and beer at The Duke's was mandatory.

Thank **** that's done for another year.

    Heeeeeeeyyy!

XX,XXX baht saved for 6 hours of a pain in the neck is decent wedge for us humble Teflers.

Even those a cut above ECC.

Plus, it's actually legal for sure.

Crikey. Here in Nongbualamphu I sometimes have to wait for a person in front of me, sometimes it is just me in the office. The staff are helpful too. I think I mentioned before that on my last visit I was a photo short. The officer said no problem, used her phone to take the picture then pasted it into the blank form on her computer and printed it for me. A box of cakes was later delivered, with actual cakes inside, by way of thanks.
The officer in charge there told me she thinks the province has about 500 foreigners on annual visas, so that works out about 2 per day on average.

Just did my Visa and work permit earlier this month. It looked like it was 50/50 I was going to get it at one point. Officer asked where my house rental contract was (have not had that as part of the package for more than 10 years!), and then he got a hair up his arse about a small discrepancy between my work permit (that I have had for more than 20 years) and the actual paper work drawn up by my office (the same every year pretty much).

His parting words were "it will be much more difficult next year"

I can't fault the staff either.

They have a job to do.

It might be better if you went ahead and applied for residency, or even citizenship. You won’t be able to once you have retired. Could save you a world of problems if you decide to stay on in Thailand.

    Fookin' 'ell.

    Feel the love, eh.

More and more are pushing people in the direction of agents.

Either that or they're really, really bumping up the levels of farang-hate.

If nidhogg is married, I wouldn't bother with PR, just apply for citizenship, it's way cheaper, easier and probably faster.

I had to get a new passport in Canada recently. I was pretty sure i had everything. But nope. The bitch caught something and sent me home. I was so pissed that i just floored the gas on my truck as i left. Usually the traction control kicks in after a few seconds and the burnout stops. But this time for some reason it didnt. I guess when it's bouncing off the rev limiter , the traction control doesen't kick in. I kept my foot in it and ended up doing a nice 10-15 foot scorcher. It sounded great. It instantly upped my mood.

^ Man, that would have been so cool if you were playing Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins at the same time.

Collected my car from the car wash and the woman pointed out the streak of cement that didn’t come off.

I have looked at both (residence and citizenship) and both have a language requirement. I meet all the requirements for residence, except that there is some language requirement that I am not sure I would pass. Sad to say, after 20 plus years here I am not at a level much above "yes" and "no".....

It's a points system and you only need 50/100 for citizenship. I was surprised how quickly I got to 43 with no yellow book and sub par Thai skills.

I really should get around to that yellow book...

Where can you check your points score?

I keep saying I'll get round to the yellow book too.
