Years back I remember seeing numerous questions why they do not use twin prop 40 passenger planes like they do from Lampang etc. They would bring in big expensive jets they couldn't fill. The few times I took one I had to go to Suvarnabhumi then catch the twin prop to Lampang. Total time was about 8hrs including layover waiting. Driving was about the same depending on traffic getting out of Korat.

I've not heard that but the speed limit in Bangkok is 80 kph whether you are on or above the ground. Outside Bangkok should be 90 kph or 120 if there are no junctions or U turns,

An unusual entry for Decathlon into the Daily Moan thread for forcing me to go Full Eddie difficult stubborn snarky mode until the other person gives up and I get what I want.

Went in to get some gear, ze ol' bike has a slow puncture so took off the wheel and took it in for them to put in a new tube.

No one at the bike area.
Spot a staff bloke that looks like a twat, then acts like a twat by grabbing a basketball and spinning it on his finger as we walk and talk.

I want to get a new tube please.
Yes, they sell them at the bike area.
Yes, I want the service team to put it in and I'll collect it tomorrow.
    Is the bike from Decathlon?
    No.
    Cannot.
    What do you mean?
They can only service bikes bought from here.
Since when? They did it last time no problem.
    Maybe one month ago.

    Fast forward a bit.

Checkout girl says the same thing.

I don't want a bike serviced, I just want the tube changed.

Bike area manager called in from where ever he was.

    Cannot.
    Why not?
    The bike's not from Decathlon.
    What bike?
    Your bike.
    I didn't bring a bike.
The wheel then, it's not from a Decathlon bike.
The wheel? The wheel's fine. I don't want the wheel serviced, I want the tube changed, and the tube is from Decathlon.
    *silence*
I want the old Decathlon tube taken out, and a new Decathlon tube put in, why can't the Decathlon bike service team do that?

    *sigh* Give me the wheel.

Why couldn't they just do that from the start.

    Well done

That'll teach them about screwing with a married man, exposed to woman logic on a daily basis.

Two minute job changing an inner tube.

Then again you fo need rudimentary DIY skills.

True that, Joe. Young Edith could have done that with her eyes closed. Lazy fooking Eddie.

Probably busy re-configuring her computer, in between calculating the trajectory of the comet she just spotted in uncle Luigi's telescope.

How do old folks survive the winter? Visiting my Dad for Christmas and living room is heated until it reaches 17C and then off heating until it's 15C. Just been to his local church and seems all the oaps do the same. Bedroom is way colder, needed a stiff drink to pluck up the courage to retire to bed.

At least I brought my winter duvet with me.

Isn't the Uk trying to kill off it's old people to reduce NHS numbers and pension payments?

That thought crossed my mind also.

They made a killing out of Covid.

I'm not generally one to knock the Thais and even after all these years I still have many very enjoyable interactions with the locals, but what in God's name made someone think it was a good idea to mount their Christmas lights, at kids' hand and/or face level, on barbed wire?

    Willy's exterior designer, perchance?

I paid good money today to see an 'Ant Kitchen'.

I reckon I'm sitting on a goldmine in Korat.

Was what they had laying around.

    'Thai pragmatism' at its best

    Applaudable

Still can't see how the 'wire' incident could come as a surprise for a seasoned Isaanite like you.

Considering they haven't plugged the barbed wire in I think they've done remarkably well. So far.

Wife called today with bad news.

Her father got killed in a car accident.

    Need ticket fast.

Got one for the 27. this.

She just got home from her quarterly holiday in Thailand 6 days ago.

Not cheap buying that stuff one day before departure, but it's a must do.

    RIP, you old tosser

    ^ Sorry to hear that.
Best of luck on your short-notice trip Helge.

Not the best time of year for travelling.
