Funny PAG, when I traveled to Livingston Scotland, we went to a pub downtown at night. They served these little cans of some Lager. It was warm but after 4 you felt no pain. It was awful warm but apparently a Scottish thing.

Nice way to end a day.

A refreshing Whiskey sour to end off the day.

This 4 Pines Aussie Wheat Ale is not in the same class as the yermans which is a shame as there are some award winning Aussie wheat ales. But still a refreshing quaff after a bodgy-bike-bash around da 'hood

With online shopping nowadays, there's really no need to go for the manufactured tea bags.

Get the pure organic dried flowers etc delivered to your door in 2-3 days, for what is probably cheaper.

Was video calling a friend from back home and mentioned I'd send over some chamomile when she went to the kitchen and pulled some out from lidl or aldi that she thought was 1 Euro a box.


Moving back would have one pro to it.


Sidenote. Just looked at the date. More than 2 months since I've bothered having any poisonous alcohol. Feeling as clean and fresh as a new pair of Calvin Klein undies.

When I first discovered Thailand in the 90s I (partly) remember drinking Sang Som from hotel mini-bars during my nights of debauchery.

Somehow, during this second 'life' in Korat I seem to have drifted into imbibing Hong Thong and the gardener's Ya Dong when I fancy that cheap Thai whiskey fix but tonight I scratched that old itch.

The forerunner of Sang Som was Mekhong.

Awful stuff.

Though I do miss the days when pharmacies sold 'krong tip' cigarettes and Mekhong Whisky.

Watson's isn't quite the same.

The Sang Som was OK I guess... I like to spoil meself on a Saturday night and it kind of dulled my tastebuds sufficiently for the following Mont Clair.

You're a bad influence Mendip. After a couple of Singhas to wet my whistle I took a stroll in the rain to the local shop. As I was treating the dog to some sausages, out of the corner of my eye I noticed a small sangsom bottle gentle calling my name. And here we are.

My wife hates it so I'm going to have to finish the bottle before she comes home tomorrow.

I'm not sure where your friend is from, but loose tea is quite expensive here. I buy it occasionally. Kudos on two months alcohol free. It has been three months for me now.

One of my favourites in a European country with many a delightful beer to enjoy and none of that absolutely dreadful soap-suddy craft beer to be seen either.



There's a reason Europeans - the best beer brewers in the world - have been doing the same thing for hundreds of years.

The scenery aint three bad either.

I have never tasted any of these mysterious Thai whiskies and distilled concoctions, which I feel is a remiss missed opportunity while I was immersing myself in Thailand, but I would be curious bring some samples back when I line up another expedition and treat them to some syrupy mischief in my whisky laboratory.
