^ Or Stumpy could try a snakebite, Lager and Dry Cider mixed. It used to be the craze when I was at Uni. The lager was usually Stella and the Cider was Merrydown silver label.
Haven't seen Merrydown for ages now but worth buying if you can find it.
You can still get it. Was our got to as well, 3 or 4 pints early evening before you went out
Edit
I'm wrong you can't get the 1 litre silver label bottles that were 8.3% anymore.

^ Our "early entertainment drink" at Uni was a home brew barrel that took four weeks from start to finish. Two weeks to ferment and 2 in the barrel so we were up and running after the first month and kept it going throughout, until our finals. It had an acquired taste, and the need for a "spin-a-bottle" party to get things going.
The addition of Merrydown livened things up a bit and I reckon only half the party ever managed to get to the pub.
Finally got around to opening this 2010 vintage which was brought over by Dental Nursey as a greeting gift on our first date in December 2011 and was never opened and then languished on the shelf for 12 years.
It surprised me with its light sparkle which had survived the years (or maybe it had undergone some kind of secondary fermentation during its 12 year shelving!), and its sweet mellow warmth.
I sometimes wonder what became of Miss Dental Nurse. We spent a fondly remembered New Years Eve 2012/13 together.
A very nice Woodford Reserve Rye Whiskey Sour.
Top looking glass and drink there DW.![]()
A very stressful week ends and it's a long weekend, thank goodness.

Gosh, someone’s obviously already had a few too many.
guess who?
A girly tipple while I watch girly rugby.
It genuinely tastes of marshmallows, probably a good way to introduce your children to alcohol.

^Sounds intriguing Joe. I think I would pick the Yorkshire Pudding over the Marshmallow.
I cracked open a Shepherd Neame India Pale Ale to compare with the Kentish Strong Ale. It is a smidge weaker at 6.1% with notes of liquorice and burnt toast. Worth further investigation.
I was also toasting the arrival of HMS Ark Royal of WWII Fame after she hoved into view today. As soon as she docked I sneaked below decks to get my quarterly tobacco ration from Storekeeper before settling in to watch Burial with a shepherds pie (great courtroom drama movie)
The Ark Royal was involved in most of the early WWII naval campaigns, hunting the Graf Spee, Scharnhorst and Gneisenau and Bismarck.
She was hit by a torpedo from U-81 in November 1941 and sank the next day off Gibraltar with all but one of the 1488 crew being saved, including my great uncle.
Many different types of cider, from the usual carbonated types to the still ciders. Many, many moons ago, when based just outside Plymouth, I used to drink in a pub called The Minerva (oldest pub in Plymouth, apparently a haunt of Sir Francis Drake). They sold vintage cider (commonly called 'vints') in draught form, but would only serve it a half pint at a time. I kid you not, 5 or 6 half pints of this stuff, and you'd swear you were paralysed from the waist down. Almost sherry like both in taste and alcohol content.
