    This should answer your question:

"I'm extremely happy to win the series," Australia captain Clarke told BBC Test Match Special. "To a lot of people this ODI series does not mean much, but to the Australia players it means a lot.

Australia winning the one day series I know hurts you Harry because you couldn't drive another verbal nail in.
Can't win with these ungrateful bastards, can you? You get whinged at for not congratulating them, then you get whinged at for doing it.

Australian squad announced for the ridiculous 7 ODI series in India , which is our warm up to the ashes..
Australia squad Shane Watson, Aaron Finch, Phillip Hughes, Michael Clarke (capt), George Bailey (vice-capt), Adam Voges, Brad Haddin (wk), Moises Henriques, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Johnson, James Faulkner, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint McKay, Xavier Doherty.
The selection of Clarke, Watson and Haddin means they will all miss the first round of Sheffield Shield matches, leaving them only two matches each to readjust to the longer format and the Australian conditions before the Brisbane Test. England's cricketers, by comparison, will have three games to acclimatise and it is not a dissimilar scenario to the disastrous 2010-11 Ashes, when England's players were better prepared than the Australians.
Once again CA puts $$$$$ in front of bettering the chances of us winning the urn back ..

^ should play a few tests
but then might not like the result on the slow pitches of the subcontinent
England will probably be better prepared for the series

Gary Ballance from Zimbabwe has been included in England's Ashes team.

How many non- English players playing for England does that make it?

Which one will you name next Rankin or Stokes?

    Im talking about non-English, Bob.

    more imports :
New Zealand-born all-rounder Ben Stokes and ex-Ireland pace bowler Boyd Rankin, who are yet to play a Test, also make the squad.

Adding the obvious KP and Trott that is 5.

Are there any more I've missed??

^^ how did you edit your post without it showing!?

Yes, Rankin. I did not think northern Irish were Brits. How does that work?

Yes, keep researching.... you can get a fair few most posts out of this but no matter how many times you say it I won't be giving a shit....

English heritage brings qualification brings selection.... good enough for me.

Northern Ireland is not British, but it is part of the UK.

That should keep your mind in a whirl for a while.

Maybe you could get some more people to apply for asylum that you can fast track in.....5555555

The fact is Bob, England poach far more players than any other country because they can - and us former colonials , although we feel its a bit like cheating , find comfort in knowing that you are not able to beat us with a team of players produced by the English system alone

At what point does it count as the English system?

From birth.... from 6.... from 12.... from 16 to have played all their professional cricket in England? When does someone earn the right in your eyes to play for England.

At the moment it just sounds like selective whining, some clarity may help.

^ I think what is more important rather then parentage is where the players honed their cricketing skills.

For instance sake Kepler Vessels who honed his skills playing cricket in South Africa should not have been allowed to captain Australia let alone play for the team. He was brought in by the Kerry Packer circus and was the first South African to ever play for Australia.

There was a public outcry at the time and it was deemed he definitely took another young Australian cricketers spot.

It is no secret the English cricket side has been stacked with ring-ins over the last 10 years and simply because there have been no better home grown cricketers available.

Would England have done as well without these ring-ins?

When you look at the scoreboards over this period I very much doubt it and at the end of the day must reflect the standards of local cricket and the true Englishmen coming through.

    Re: Nationality

I always believe that you are from your blood not where you were born.

That said, if you are born and lived in a country all your life then that also counts.

Colin Cowdrey was not an Indian was he?

Ted Dexter was not Italian was he?

Andrew Mehrtens is not South African is he?

But Monty Panesar can be English because he is born and bred.

Kevin Pietersens blood is as English as it is South African.... to me there is no issue, same for Trott....

Then there are the people who qualify on residency, they are a grayer area, people such as Graham Hick, but the authorities say they can qualify and that is good enough for me.

There are a few that I don't agree with, Zola Budd, Kepler Wessels, Andries Pretorius, and others that I don't agree with, but those numbers are quite few.

My kids are born in England of a Welsh and a Thai parent. They will play sport for Wales if good enough, Thailand if it suited but would never consider themselves English at all.

I think the issue lies with not only the large pool of cricket playing former colonies that England can poach from compared to other test playing nations, but also with the fact that they have a long history of using the advantage to their limits. ie: ear marking stand out youngsters in SA, ZIM, Ireland, etc. and making sure they go through all of the hoops to make sure they are eligible for English selection by the time they have matured enough.

I guess it's a small return for civilizing the world.

The French similarly have a few countries they poach from for predominantly football and athletics (and a bit of rugby), and I'm sure the Spanish have had a few from former colonies as well.

It seems quite a few New Zealanders think they are a vassal state of Japan these days, while we're on the subject...
