Don't do that, they are carcinogenic.

    It's not burnt, it's caramelized.

    You'd hate me ribs, Nev.

That is a misnomer. However, there was some study years back where is was stated that cooking with coal or briquets might be considered unhealthy. Thai folks believe it causes cancer so they spend hours cutting off charred parts. Shame really...Love them burnt bits.

    Sigh.

There is clear evidence that burned/charred meat contains chemicals that can cause cancer. However, as always, the devil is in the details. It is unlikely that normal consumption patterns would result in levels sufficient to actually cause cancer.

Eat a highly charred steak every day for ten to twenty years and you might get a different result.

    - also is is a good idea to keep consumption of processed meats/sausages at a reasonable level as well.

Absolutely Nid. I stay away from processed meats and have for numerous years now. I occasionally enjoy an Italian hotlink sausage off the grill when visiting the states and only eat the sausages my wife makes here because I know exactly what's in them. Processed hams, pastrami, corned beef etc are not very good for you. But as noted, always about moderation.

There is also clear evidence that if I leave the house tomorrow, I could get hit by a bus.

That would defeat the purpose of enjoying a fine steak.

Probably. I rarely eat ribs anyway. Once every 5 years maybe. Not my thing. Burn them and you can give them to Mendy's dogs.

Mrs knocked me up a garee patpong poo tonight.

Still one of my top 5 favourite Thai dishes.

If it's the "best bits", then how come they don't burn more of it ?

Sounds like the excuse of a lousy grillmaster to me.

I've washed my hands about 6 times and had 2 showers since then.

    My fingers still smell delicious.

The sausages are British, the chips are from NZ and the beans are..well beans.

40mins in the oven with no prep after a long day at work.

Don't understand the abuse tbh. It's an English classic. Oh that might be why ..

Maybe started a bit early by the pool today?
