This from a guy who asked on this forum how much barfines were in the town where he lives *cough*, and where to buy sex toys in Bangkok. Very connected to all things Thailand is Jeff the Farang sex pest

Best Thai lamb dish I ever had was a lamb shank mussaman in a restaurant on the Chao Phraya river near Siriraj.

I've also had great lamb meals here in Thai Restaurants and the venison (I know it isn't lamb) I enjoyed on the River Kwai (next to the railway bridge) was the finest I have had.

Not sure about dinner (coz I don't cook the fucking thing) but lunch is looking a little bit like this today, and yesterday, and tomorrow...

Believe it or not David, the answer to that was Monday!. At Macro and Mrs Worx said we haven't had roast lamb in while, so she picked a leg out that we'll cook in the next day or two. She likes the occasional roast lamb pie from Tinnies too, she can only eat half of one but the other half never goes to waste .

But you're dead right, lamb most definitely is not something Thai's crave or even like in my experience, and it's not common to see it on Thai menus. Because I've cooked it so often at home over the 10+ years we've been together and because we've been to Farang-land together so many times, my Missus slowly developed a taste for it.

If your only introduction to lamb was the mutton the southern Thais cook and it does stink then it's easy to see the bad smell and dislike comments from Thais as they don't know the difference between lamb and mutton and what they've taken a dislike to is rancid old sheep which is totally understandable.

When I come to Thailand 35 years ago fresh milk. decent beef and particularly lamb was almost impossible to find along with decent beer!

Good cheese was considered inedible by the Thai's and forget about trying to get a decent hamburger in those days.

Times have changing and Thais are starting to explore different tastes and loving it.

My wife has launched a new range of Indian Foods and a few years ago the Thai's would have said..........Ahun Khag,,,,,,,,,,, Mai Aroi. Men!

Now they are buying up heaps. Just don't tell them what they are eating. They scoff it down like nobodies business.

I've found that there's tons of really good Halal restaurants that have opened in the last few years...you might not get a beer, but the lamb and beef are superb.

How many have you found and tried Tops? I found a, I found a few okay.... But one of my favorite restaurants in this area is halal. Super but no lamb and the beef is only in the curries.

Someone recommended West Indian Goat Curry to me the other day, gonna give it a try st the weekend.

How can you claim to have connections to Manchester yet have not eaten this??!?!?!? Especially given where Maine Rd was (before you got into football, obviously).

They probably deliver to Stoke these days as well.

^^^ and once you get enlightened Chitty, try the beef patties. Loads of places in Moss Side, Hulme and Old Trafford did them when I was at home.
