Last night, to continue the comfort food, i had mushrooms on toast and a lovely cuppa tea!!
The mushies were fried up with a bit of onion and garlic and lots of butter. And Wooster sauce.

And continuing with comfort food (Western or otherwise) a late lunch / early dinner Chicken stew before heading out for a few beers shortly. Ingredients were chicken thighs & drumsticks, carrots, celery, onions, chicken stock, new potatoes, a can of cream of chicken soup, paprika, S&P. Simmer for 2 hours, done. Dead easy, healthy, tasty, and filling.

Nice, I may make that up soon. That soup is just screaming dumplings!!!!I will give it a shot. Havent made a dumpling in years. Just used my dads trick of those Pillsbury biscuits boiled rather than baked...
^^Yes AO, dumplings would have been a great addition. One problem though, I don't know how to make them!. If you or anyone else makes them sometime, please do post some pics/tips.
^Correct Hallelujah, I should have bought a French loaf to slice up and go with this but only thought about that while starting to chop veg. Normally, Mrs Worx would have just jumped on her scooter and gone to a nearby bakery, but being Songkran...
I once bought kosher dumplings in the Jewish section of a supermarket here in Europe. And put them in a stew. They turned out great!!
They were ready made in a box. I just added them to the stew for about 10 minutes.
Don't you need suet for dumplings?
^ My mum always made dumplings with suet (think it has a 98% fat content, no BS!).
Jamie Oliver has a healthier version, or a version for those in Thailand without access to suet...

Very quick and cheap to make.
Freeze a pat of butter or lard, grate it. Almost the same. A lot of the expat shops sell suet in Thailand anyway.
Thanks pseudolous , I was wondering what suet was,? thought I might hafta google it for a while there. Sorted now, watch this thread for BLD dumplings
When you go to the quacks, they ask you hpw much you drink, you tell them, they say "how much do you really drink", and you tell them truthfully, they will say you are in danger of fatty liver. It is a hard fat that clings to the outside or organs, and breaks down slower when cooking. That is what Suet is. Butter and Lard is as close as you can get.. However, if you have the stomach for it, you will always be able to get the real stuff from the wet markets - look out for fatty offal, but buy that, eat the offal and freeze and grate the fat.
Fried up some wu-sen & yesterdays brocolli with a bit of sweet chilli sauce & garlic. It was too late at night to lace it with fresh chillis

toey mate, that looks great, we have one on 4 or 5 days a week. Could you like just use that picture twice, hence deleting post 6493?
I seriously suggest you get your own sub forum. Right now with the state of TD, it might be a cracker and the mods would love it. For sure you have Meme to give ya and hand with recipes, cooking and the photos.
I was a bit queasy all day today, that photo combined with Pseuds worms was a bit off putting. But on a normal day it would be fun to see in a proper place.![]()
