As a boy I only got radishes and Brussels sprouts , I would of given my left nut to have bad teeth and diabetesall I got was some nasty Flatulance, still like the elusive radish though.
Salmon Filet Mignon...
Marinade some salmon in whatever flavors you like...I used a sweet, light BBQ seasoning....
Cook some strips of bacon about half way in your oven so the strips stay relatively flat and wrap the fillets in them....
They're supposed to be done on the grill, but as it's been pissing down, we did them in the oven...they came out like this:
Served on a bed of grilled tomatoes with rice and carrots cooked in brown sugar and balsamic vinegar.

^^
That looks brilliant.
No photos I'm afraid, but last night I surprised myself with some simple homestyle comfort food.
Making it up as I went along i boiled potatoes and carrots and steamed half a cabbage.
While that was going on I dunked some skinless fillets of fish (basra) in milk and dredged them in flour and then pan fried them in a generous lake of olive oil.
While the veges and fish were cooking i chopped up half a handful of coriander and half a handful of onion, dropped them in a sauce pot, poured in enough milk, a half teaspoon of salt, a little white pepper and a goodly dollop of butter, some grated cheese and water from the boiled vegetables and slowly bought that to the boil then removed from the heat and added two spoons of flour already smoothly mixed with a little cold water, then slowly bought it back to simmer stirring continuously then removed from the heat to thicken.
Drained the vegetables and put the fish on some kitchen towel paper to remove any excess oil.
Then served the fish with plain boiled spuds, carrots and cabbage smothered in the white sauce.
it was very satisfying and delicious (not to mention simple) and the kids absolutely wolfed it down.

Although I just posted this on food and drinks after asking the question how to make puff pastry I thought some of you might enjoy. Although I can buy frozen sheets of puff pastry in OZ, I couldn't find any during my last trip to Isaan. These are made with a recipe called rough puff ( google it - BBC ) and although look a little wonky taste better that frozen. Sausage mince with stuffing mix (breadcrumbs and herbs ) and some BBQ and tomato sauce for the filling, with a bit of extra garlic salt and mixed herbs. Yum!
This evenings main event. Breaded baked pork chop, garlic mashed pumpkin, sauteed cabbage with bacon, Chinese sugar peas, and Diane gravy. Lovely![]()

Few more minutes cooking time for me, but different people have different tastes.
