    ^if you say so, Scribe...

^^ Roast potatoes are the king of the vegetable world!

    Closely followed by mashed potatato:

    Jackets not far behind...

    Gratin

    & Saute

The carrot is nothing, frankly it's pathetic...

    Cycling should be banned!!!

Have you tried roast carrots? They piss all over potatoes.

Roasted carrots are nearly as offensive as roasted parsnips...

The potato is everything that's good about British cooking.

Potato and asparagus, it just cannot get any better than that!

^ Never seen one, must give that a go.

^^ Asparagi are for the French and the gay.

Last tried some when I was 5, have they evolved into something edible since then?

    Betty, that gratin looks delicious.
Potatoes are brilliant and very versatile, unlike rice which is sometimes boring.
    Best rice dish ever...Rice Krispies.

This should be relabelled the British dinner thread as it is truly disgusting barf-o-rama.

We would have McDonalds (and all the other plastic shit) to keep you Seppos happy, but they're not actual food and you don't cook them at home.

Funny but last I checked there are a ton of Mcdonalds and KFC restaurants in the UK and you lot love it.

Fast food becomes the UK's meal of choice - Telegraph

As for myself I haven't eaten fast food in years.

Had a crack at the hasselback potatoes, didn't really work. But tasted great.
Need to make some mods to my Weber BabyQ before the next try.

Roast Lamb Chops, butter saute'd mushrooms, minted peas, Un-Hasselbacl spuds in a roast onion and garlic red wine sauce.

    BURP!....

Very tasty. Need to get a granite tile cut to sit on top of the grill to even out hotspots.
The spuds cooked much faster and the slices where very flavourful, but thinking about it, I don't think they can be done properly without an overhead heat source.
To get it hot enough to air fry the cuts I would have to turn the spuds every few minutes, which would let all the heat out of the barbie.

    ^doesn't seem that tricky?

    Prep:20min › Cook:55min › Ready in:1hr15min

    Preheat the oven to 220 C / Gas 7.
Peel the potatoes, and place in bowl of cold water to prevent browning. Insert a metal skewer or thin knife along the bottom of the potato - this will prevent you from cutting through the whole way. Make slices across the potato the short way about 3 to 6mm apart, making sure to cut down to the skewer but not all the way through the potato. The slices should stay connected at the bottom. Return the potato to the bowl of water, and proceed with the remaining potatoes.
When all of the potatoes are cut, place them cut side up in a shallow baking dish or small roasting tin. Drizzle with half of the butter, then season with salt and pepper.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from the oven, and drizzle with the remaining butter. Sprinkle cheese and breadcrumbs onto the tops of the potatoes, and season with a little more salt and pepper. Return to the oven, and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until golden brown and nicely roasted.

Yeah, but that's in an oven which would have a top element. I have to make do with a kettle bbq.
