You should be down Brickfields every meal of the day if you're in KL, Dil. Likewise, Little India if you're in Penang.
^ I have tried both areas. Both a bit of a jaunt now.I haven't had much Indian food, thinking about it. Might have one for Sunday dinner delivered after the boxing
Coincidentally I was in Brickfields yesterday for a food tasting at a soon-to-be opened Indian restaurant - vegetarian. Ate far too much . . . and heading back for round two today . . . Breakfast this morning consists of two 'pottles' (kiwi word) of yoghurt and a banana to get ready for it
Brickfields is still a bit 'Indian' near the three temples area, but the rest is now just high rises, many under construction - definitely lost its charm.
Heading off to a dinner celebration for Persian New Year tonight . . . Iranians eat and rink far too much for my sensitive system, pretty much the only Muslims who drink alcohol openly in Malaysia
Words mean shit,
Pics only here noobie
I didn't take many yesterday . . . and only crap ones - let me see what is worth posting.
My favourite was a veg curry with onions and petai . . . with basmati rice - fantastic.
OK, the restaurant was near here (check the metadata for date and time verification )
I couldn't find the place, so had to take a pic to whatsapp the guy who invited me.
Ok, my third helping of the aforementioned petai, or what's left of it:
Oh, and the chutneys . . . not the 'western' chutneys, but real South Indian chutneys . . . amazing
As they will also be catering for lunches and dinners they are adding some Chinese and Malay dishes, so another chef is coming in today to showcase these.
I promise better photos

I know it was lunch yesterday, not dinner . . . but . . . the occasions were to select dishes that would make it on the menu, and today/yesterday it was rice dishes and one soup.
So, it's a vegan restaurant in Brickfields - but not vegan as we know it, this was south Indian vegan - very tasty. Now, before you point me out as a fat prat (at 6'2 and 86 kg), I had just a few spoons of each!
There was a Hindu festival of sorts going on - lots of loud music and two of my favourite libations (!) were there!
So, we started off with a very tasty mild curry soup in bread, baked in the kitchen
Followed by Indian Rojak, a fruit a vegetable dish, slightly sweet. Usually it's a snack or desert
Curry mee, a coconut-based curry noodle dish
A cendol (also called ABC for the ingredients) to 'cleanse' the palette . . . shaved ice with palm sugar syrup, coconut milk and assorted other things
Kampung fried rice (village fried rice)
Morringga fried rice (leaves from the Moringga tree, also known as Horseradish or Drumstick tree)
Beetroot fried rice
Nasi goreng kampung with a curry leaf base
There were many more but I just gave up taking photos . . . five hours we sat and ate . . . then it was time to get back to my place, shower and get off to my Syrian dinner.
I'm glad this is not a common occurrence. . . far too much food
Interesting Tasting menu, the off cuts of Cucumber, gives it the Ce petit plus.
Twas, twas, twas . . . When it comes to meat I think ME restaurants do it pretty well, not steaks, obviously, but slightly spiced and grilled . . .
And they all tasted very, very different. Nothing too spicy this time (as opposed to the 'teary, nose-run, face-flushed Saturday) as they want to cater to businesses and condo residents around them
It's the little things that make the dishes - Malaysia and Singapore have an amazing range of cuisines due to their population make-up and regional influences . . . and I'm lucky I have worked in the hospitality/tourism area so I get asked to a lot of foodie-related things.
If I wasn't primarily a vegetarian, I'd be a fat prat
On my 11th day of eating only meat (and eggs and some cheese last night) and I've lost a little bit of weight.Originally Posted by panama hat
Might just be water weight but: one of the few physiological effects I've noticed is I've had to up me water intake (which was already pretty high) to counter some dehydration.
^I think culinary boredom will get to you before seeing any real results.

And for now the ease and convenience and sheer bliss of bacon 'n eggs for breakfast most every day and massive fuck-off steaks for dinner is still there.
The masterpiece Armstrong had seems to be lost thanks to PH.
Good work to both of ye.
The ones building up from a largely meat based diet, i assume you aren't eating any roughage either to dissuade the decaying meat from lingering in your system. It doesn't take a doctor to work out that the diet, like most diets is a an unhealthy fad. Have you started squatting like a dog yet, you may want to check in with our forum dog expert.
When you order carbonara.
And get served a Cheltenham hat that could be used to police background check the waiter if you had a fingerprint scanner.
So you're saying that grass-fed meat is of itself toxic.Originally Posted by NamPikToot
