Been spending a bomb on eating out over the last couple of months.

Hard not to with BBQs like this, but it isn't cheap. This one pork though, so not too expensive.

The BBQs are usually good but 1 a week is more than enough.

Seoul. I try to limit myself to one every two weeks and go veggie/fish during the week after a big meat attack at the weekend.

Nice on a cold day with a bottle or two of makgeolli.

One thing I've been meaning to buy (pressure cooker)... will buy one when we move to Japan soon.

I hear they are amazing inventions, infuse the flavor, healthy too..

You guys all probably have them.. I'm just a poor Kiwi lad, never seen outside my shoe box, let alone a pressure cooker...

^ An old friend's dad would eat hairy bacon and cabbage most nights of the week when he got home from work. He grew up on it as a kid in Ireland and carried on eating eat 5 days a week as an adult.

At the weekends he just got pissed on Guinness.

    Hard Salt Bacon

"Traditional fare also known as "Hairy Bacon".

A traditional product in every sense of the word. "Hairy Bacon" was the staple diet of older generations. When the pig was slaughtered in the homestead, black pudding and hard salt bacon were the main recipes. The hairy bacon was cured in the barrel for four weeks then hung from the roof of the kitchen where it yellowed with age and from the smoke of the turf fire."

Really are amazing. They speed up the cooking time tremendously. Why use a crock pot for eight hours when a pressure cooker does the job in an hour? I love them.

Ok here is that Reuben I just ate!!

On homemade sauerkraut rye bread with homemade Russian dressing and homemade sauerkraut that the misses late father made. Damn tasty.

So I think I will make this a three part series.

On Sunday my better half will make Hash with the last of the corned beef. Nothing goes to waste in our house.

Last meal in Holland last week and it was steak again- medium. Actually it was more medium rare in the center which turned out to be a good thing. Washed down with Jupiler- a fine crisp brew. There were also some Belgian fries on the side.
