I have never been to a wedding where they serve vol au vents!! Even at my own wedding they served a "granité" which is a jolly little lemon sorbet to cleanse your palate between the fish and meat dishes!! That was a bit too posh even for my posh mum!! "why are we getting our pudding now?"!!
But i know what you mean about the tin of stuffing for vol au vents. Here, it is usually mushrooms and sweetbreads. Bits of lung etc. Yucks. But it does look better in the vol au vent than on a plate.
Luigi, what people are trying to show is the fact that you can homecook for next to nothing. If you take the time. And bargains can be found in supermarkets. Why pay 5 quid or 10 Swissies for a couple of chicken legs, when an hour later you can get them for two and put them in the freezer.
My freezer is full of stuff which was half price. I even, still, have a couple of slices of potato bread from August for a fry up over the weekend. And haggis.
It's getting cold here, it was 9 degrees today. I don't want to have to go to supermarket everyday. Apart from the ciggie and wine shop. Which are across the street. And even then, in this crap weather, i get my stocks in.
Pats is starting to hibernate. And i feel it in my bones it is going to be a shit winter. Especially after the heatwave we had in the summer.
Depends where your standing mate , I aint hard up by any means , infact TBH compared to some I consider myself quite well off , BTW earned it all myself never given anything .Quote:

What round did you get knocked out in, Dil? I'm guessing the first - pre-planned so you could get back to your seat in time for pudding, you pudding!
I'm a lover not a fighter bro:)
Seeing as you've shown an interest I shall proceed to bore you with the 4 bouts.

The Widowmaker looks more like a buffet bomber.
TFI !!! and I am gonna make one of my favourites tonight a nice chicken ruby
To begin with I have chopped up some chicken thigh meat , I buy this boneless from our local butcher an absolute huge tray of it for a fiver , which I split into about five or six bags for the freezer , there is plenty here for my curry in this bag with 2 thighs left to cook for the wife when she comes in from work fresh .
I also roughly chop one onion + add a drop of sea salt + chilli
https://teakdoor.com/images/smilies1/You_Rock_Emoticon.gif
Now while that is cooking the chicken meat slowly I get the pestle + mortar out to crunch + grind up 69 special spices and herbs to create a really authentic curry paste ,, this really is a labour of love .
https://teakdoor.com/images/smilies1/You_Rock_Emoticon.gif :)
Here we are with my " authentic " curry paste bubbling away until it becomes the nice consistency that suits my pallet

Here we are served up on top of freshly cooked Thai jasmine rice , bloody delicious

Something light for me. Smoked salmon sandwiches (wholemeal bread) and a slice of quiche.

Is Bollinger an international rock superstar? The bloke gets fucking everywhere.
Health food. Equal amounts of carbohydrate, protein and fibre - each featuring a liberal dollop of nutrition... tasted very, how can we say... reasonable.

I might even treat myself to a couple of these later if I'm feeling brazen and outlandish.

Roll on tomorrow night, when this sort of gear will be the order of the evening, after, of course, a dozen bottles of my new favourite beer... Tsing Tao :yup:

Marmite rice cakes! Jeez you need a red for that.
Bollinger:) is the forum James Bond:)
Round 1 was nice.
Doner Kebab...I'd fookin' die for that!
It would certainly put another nail in your coffin mate ^
Donner kebabs are what I miss most from the UK.
Dil, that French bloke is probably ex foreign legion, so an absolute psycho!
Here's some food for Headworx to enjoy: :)

Tasted great, a bit of a kick though...
^
I wouldn't eat that unless there was no choice (ie I was a hostage), the fridge was empty, Food Panda were offline, my cell phone was MIA, or I couldn't walk to one of the many Western food restos nearby home. Mrs Worx would like it though, laab of some description I guess...
And then there's that egg complete with burnt edges and a collapsed yolk. Have you got a small fry pan with a lid, a half a teaspoon of oil (or canola spray), a piece of paper towel, and a few drops of water?. I can talk you through how to avoid the same mistakes, and include some pics if it would help. Genuine offer.
Pad ka POW!
Would you like fried egg with that sir and some bloody cucumber.
A very Thai meal.
^ yep.
I was laughing when I read that and MrsBoo walked by and asked me why I was laughing... You'd better hope you never meet her!!! :)Quote:

I'm off to the supermarket to get some bargains for the week, wish me luck:)
Wetherspoons would negate the need for bargain hunts. I'm just about to try their new Mac and Cheese - with bacon. I shall also be trying a dozen or so pints of their alcohol. Then I will go up the road and make my weekly contribution to the Turkish economy.Quote:

Marmite Rice Cakes`? Never heard of them.
I miss Twiglets. I do have a jar of marmite, so could dip some sort of pretzel thing in, i suppose.
Well, after watching the Haka for the first time during this Rugby World Cup. I shall fry up some veal burgers and might pop over to the kebab shop for some chips.
