Liking that, Patsy, simple and easy and nice...

I've had a couple of rounds of the pork, just slicing and cooking both sides, some mushrooms and a sandwich, but I can get some cream from a local shop...

It turned out that the supermarket threw in a couple of sachets of this sauce/marinade type thing, so I just used it as a sauce, mangoesque, but light, nice, cooked it in once the pork was lightly cooked, through in the cooked mushrooms too... The vegetable was nice, similar to the one you get in Thailand, I boiled it for 3 or 4 minutes and that seemed about right, still a bit crispy but cooked through - nice.

Once again, an effort. The veg is Bok Choy. Its not done not near. Its a vegetable that must be cooked with other seasonings to really bring it too life. Steamed lightly and then stir fried...Soy, onion, garlic, black pepper and little oyster sauce and you're talking big time tasty.

Why did you slice the best part of a whole pig into like teeny pieces? Steaks mate, not pork chips.

^ very unfair. The meat was very tender, big steaks would have been fine - I had bigger steaks earlier actually, but didn't take any pics.

^^ little bits cook quicker than big bits... I'm just trying stuff out, the pork was nice and about 150 baht for a bit that lasted 4 meals - would easily serve a family of 4. The vegetable was really cheap for here, at 20 baht for 4 of 'em.

I was a bit lazy to buy potatoes and cream and garlic and stuff, but step by step, AO - the meals were quite nice, and this cooking lark is a piece of piss...

The 10+ years I lived in Thailand I became very lazy because the missus is an excellent cook, likes going to the market to buy food, likes to cook, so I did nothing in the kitchen...

I don't even have any herbs and stuff yet, I'll get a variety next time I pop to a decent supermarket. Or I could just follow Headworx's lead and just buy:

Don't really mind, especially in the cooking threads. Unlike many of the muppets on the board I don't come here to win any battles... In the cooking threads, I like to see what others have done, give me a bit of motivation and some ideas...

You really do need black pepper, but not in a shaker. Get yourself a grinder. Or get some of those different coloured pepper pods and grind them.

My staple dried herbs are mixed herbes de Provence, chili flakes, paprica, garlic, dill and turmeric.

^ just working away from home for a while, Grasshopper...

I'm wondering when Patsy is gonna pop around with her grinder (we can do it virtually if she prefers, and I can put shoe polish on it for that African effect...).

My mum has a battery powered one. Myself, an old fashioned wooden one nicked from an Italian restaurant many moons ago.

But it still grinds. Sorta like that Ricky Martin song - she moves she moves she grinds she grinds....

And of course she is female. No smelly males in the Patsy household.

I am not stoned, i am replying to the pepper grinder question. OK, with a little double entendre which i hope most people will pick up on.

Haven't been stoned for years. Wine is my crime these days.

Nothing wrong with undercooked or raw vegetables. Even raw. Needn't project the usual stereotypes as it applies to Asian ingredients.

Shopping at Foodland today and got some of these for the first time after wondering what they'd be like for ages. Beef Pork and Chicken kebabs. It's meat and veg but takes laziness in the kitchen to whole new levels, not bad either

Did an easy pork parmesan last night. Just served with chips and a nice green salad with croutons.

So get your pork fillet like Betty displayed a few days ago.

I had a big bowl of sauce to use as you like. It was simmered in the sauce so I dont use much, the kids use a lot.

Came out nice with just a small serving of sauce on top.

NNothing fancy ever, just simple food for a simple family. It was enjoyed.

Look nice but way too much handling by unknown people of dubious hygeine standards for me.

Nice pan, riveted handles are quality..

And that right there sums things up perfectly. It's great that some people can really cook well and they take the time to present restaurant quality dishes at home. But knocking something basic together that's enjoyed and asked for often, that's what home cooking is all about IMO.

Correct, though at Foodland you're at least some chance of everything being kosher. Will make my own from scratch next time and use Lamb, everything needed (which isn't much) is available there anyway.
